Helix are performing this Saturday 24 January at 7.30pm in St Andrews Church in Countesthorpe under the direction of the talented Andre Chan. Tickets for this popular concert are £15, and are available on the door or can be reserved by phone 07954 085009 or email [email protected]. Under 18's are free!
We have performed almost every year in Countesthorpe since 2010, and the concerts have a very strong following and appreciative audience. Active Arts Countesthorpe have been fantastic in making sure that our concerts are well planned, and we all look forward to playing in St Andrews. This year is the 50th Anniversary of Active Arts Countesthorpe and we wish them all the best for the coming years.
ACTIVE ARTS. In October 1976 a small group of volunteers got together to bring a programme of 'arts' to Countesthorpe and Blaby.
Based loosely at the new Countesthorpe College they were regarded as 'the art wing' of the College and so the story continues. A small group of volunteers continues to provide a programme of all things arty for the good folks of Countesthorpe and Blaby.
For many years funding was provided by subsidised use of the College and the returns from a very successful Craft Market. Over the years things changed and we are now more or less self-funded, mainly from the Craft Market.
Active Arts continues and to spread the love by providing artists and bands at other village events and like to support anything arty that happens in Countesthorpe.
Helix love performing at Countesthorpe, and thanks to Active Arts it has become an annual event for us. We first performed here in 2010, and if you were in the audience at that first concert, we would love to hear from you!

Lots of happy, smiley faces at this afternoon's packed concert at Wollaton Hall and Deer Park. The playing was exquisite in the slow movement of the Elgar Serenade for Strings, and the two concertos were a real treat, and showed how Peter Siepmann had worked to bring out the very best in the Helix Ensemble in the generous acoustic of the Great Hall. What a great afternoon!
