Reel People is a network of filmmakers I set up with Jeff Bale in Nottingham just under a year ago. It’s mostly made up of people who have done the film courses we run at Broadway but also has people from outside of that too. We’ve gone from six people at our first meeting to over fifty last night. There are currently five films from the group in post-production and five or six in pre-production along with people offering their paid and collaborative services. Exciting times.

THE RAVE RIDE RETURNS...

The rearranged Rave Ride will take place on Sunday 16th August at 14.00. We'll be meeting at the Town Hall Square Bike Park before embarking on a two hour bike ride taking in a selection of the old rave venues in Leicester city centre.

Michael Cutz Whittle will be performing a live old school DJ set as we journey from clubs to record shops and clothes shops.

There will be an exhibition of rave memorabilia, old school tapes to play, VHS to watch, flyers to look at and hold and clothes to wear at The Exchange after the completion of the ride. This will be accompanied by a secure bike park.

Something daft we made last year is available to watch after a short festival run.

LUNCH HOUR devised over a fortnight, shot in a day and edited over a couple of weeks managed to bring home the One Minute Wonder Award at the Welsh BAFTA qulaifying Cardiff Mini Film Festival and also screened at the BIFA affiliated Mansfield Town Film Festival, Birmingham Film Festival and Short Sharp Shocks.

Would you like to get involved in the productions being pitched for The Slate?

Following the deadline for pitches for The Slate, PLATFORM's pitching session will take place upstairs in the Terrace Room this Thursday 30 July at 6.30pm.

This will be your chance to hear the eleven ideas that have been selected following our open call. The pitches will be presented to the room, including a panel made up of at least three industry professionals.

Audience members will have the chance to vote for their three favourite projects.

Each pitch will be 5 minutes and to ensure every shortlisted project has the same opportunity to present, there will be no questions during the pitching event.

Following the pitching session, three of the eleven ideas will be taken forward to the next stage of The Slate. The panel's assessment and the audience vote will both be considered as part of the final selection process.

We look forward to you joining us for an evening of exciting pitches from the PLATFORM community.
