A little intro to little old me. The face behind Quirky's HQ.
I have had a lot of new followers so I thought it time to introduce myself and tell you a little about me.
I am Sarah, a 61 year old mother to an amazing son who lives in Manchester. I am married to my sidekick and best friend Andy who is my rock!
When I first left school ( Many moons ago) I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship in Hairdressing. Sadly, short lived because once I started using different shampoos and lotions my hands broke out in severe eczema. After taking 8 weeks off of my apprenticeship to get my hands cleared up I was sadly advised to give up my passion for hair.
This then lead me to take on a training course through YTS... yes, I am that old, if you can remember back to those days. The YTS was in textiles, and learning and training in everything textile for fashion. Sadly after many years in this industry it was cheaper to have the fashion industry shipped abroad leaving thousands of people looking to relocate work life.
I moved on to another sector within a school, which is where I took a position to become a teaching assistant at my son's then school.
The years passed and in between I still carried out my passion for sewing.
Then in 2019 I started sewing memory cushions from loved ones clothes, to comfort grieving relatives. I had a passion for wanting to comfort beautiful humans who had the misfortune of loosing a loved one. I soon found a small studio within an Artisan Centre in Hinckley and to make it pay I turned my love for crafting into a business. This is where Quirky's HQ was born. Phew... if you have read this far you have patience 🤣
After covid there was never really anywhere that came up to scratch financially or bright enough, and that brings me to now!
A wonderful business friend told me about Crafty Space in Enderby and the rest is history as they say. I now run beginners sewing sessions, Coffee and Card nights along with Altered book classes.
