The Little Theatre

The Little Theatre Acting For You. Boasting excellent home-grown productions since 1930.
(311)

The Little Theatre, home of the Leicester Drama Society (LDS) provides a high quality of theatre to the East Midlands and has been running for over a hundred years in the heart of Leicester’s city centre. The Little Theatre produces 12 main house shows each year including musicals, drama, comedy, contemporary theatre and the classics as well as a consistently popular pantomime, performed in the 35

0-seat auditorium to over 25,000 audience members. We are a predominantly voluntary-run organisation funded by the Leicester Drama Society (LDS) who have established the building as their society’s home in 1932. The Leicester Drama Society proudly boasts patrons such as Sir Anthony Hopkins, Tim Pigott-Smith and Lord Richard Attenborough (who once trod the boards at The Little Theatre himself!). Membership is open to anyone interested in the theatre above the age of 16, and while we encourage all members to get involved both on and backstage, we also have many members who are simply supporters and regular audience members.

It’s 1975. The Millgarth Incident Room in Leeds is the epicentre of the biggest manhunt in British history, for one of the most notorious serial killers: the Yorkshire Ripper.

With public and political pressure mounting, hundreds of officers must work around the clock and resort to increasingly audacious attempts to end one man’s campaign of terror.

Olivia Hirst and David Byrne’s ‘beautifully crafted’ play (The Guardian) goes behind the scenes to investigate the case that nearly broke the British police force.

PRINCIPALS
Sunday, July 12, 2026 @ 10am-12:30pm

We are delighted to welcome anyone interested in auditioning for a principal part in this year’s Little Theatre pantomime, Mother Goose, to join us for a lively panto workshop in the first instance.

During the workshop, we will explore script work, singing and dance/movement, giving you a chance to get a real feel for the show and have some fun along the way. We have a lower age limit of 17, but there is no upper age limit, so we warmly encourage everyone with enthusiasm and a love of performance to come along.

DANCERS
Sunday, July 5, 2026 @ 10am-1pm

We are also looking for a team of six to eight senior dancers to join our pantomime.
You will need a high level of dance experience, plenty of enthusiasm, and a beaming smile.

You must be 16 or over on the day of the audition. We are ideally looking for dancers up to their early 30s.

There will be 25 performances between the above production dates. Rehearsals will begin in mid-to-late October; dancers will be called on Tuesday evenings and Sundays during the day.
