The University of Leicester’s Attenborough Arts Centre prides itself on being accessible and inclusive. We want everyone to feel welcome and get involved in what we do. We are a pioneering arts centre designed to include everyone. With over 18 years of experience, our programme offers courses and workshops, contemporary

art, performance and live art, theatre and comedy, live music and jazz, dance, activities for children and families, and more. We are proud to champion emerging talent and disability-led performance companies, supporting those starting their careers. Our outstanding access and inclusive work has been recognised, through multiple awards and grants from Arts Council England, BBC Children in Need, Leicester Shire Promotions and Visit England. Our audience has grown from 55,000 to 67,000 people over the last year.

Did you know? 🧐

Highfields Community Centre and Attenborough Arts Centre have collaborated on ‘Step into the Spotlight’, a new film and performance programme that engaged local communities from Highfields with their local arts and community spaces.

The project engaged with a wide range of people, built a community partnership across the two venues, and allowed participants to co-create the programme by providing agency in the themes undertook.

Nurture Network Returns! 🥳

A judgement free, networking space to bring together emerging and experienced practitioners interested in participatory arts work with young people in Special Educational Needs and Disability settings.

Nurture Network hosts 5 meets per academic year with different *guest speakers, where they discuss their practice and are open to Q&A’s, followed by an open discussion space for participants.

This is a safe space where participants can discuss their practice through conversation and dialogue, to share ideas and challenges in a safe and nurturing environment.

The sessions are usually 2 hours, with regular breaks. There will always be two staff members from Attenborough Arts Centre, an invited speaker together with a limited number (a maximum of 10) attendees.

Your perfect one-day workshop for total beginners to the life drawing genre! ✏

You will be shown fool proof, tried and tested methods of rendering the life model using a variety of drawing media.

You’ll discover that it’s not as difficult as you had thought to draw the human form in a convincing manner!

After lunch you’ll work towards a more finished piece of work from a longer, more sustained pose.
