Hi,
We're looking for reviewers for our game Earth Gambit: Light.
Any recommendations or volunteering to review the game?

Earth Gambit: Light is a light social/fun game with simple, easy to explain mechanics, where players have to make "difficult decisions" with limited options.

It is a team-based game, and players play as either the Aliens who want to conquer the Earth, the Scientists who fight for existence, or the Extinctionists, who want to rid the Earth of any intelligent life. The playing deck is a mix of different colored science cards and action cards. Team wins when a certain amount of science cards of that team has been played. To achieve their goals, players can also use psych weapon or psych defence cards, and stall their opponents by playing other different action cards. The catch is in the limited choice players have on their turn: from the 3 cards they have in their hand, they must play one card, and pass one card to the next player, but they don't necessarily know who they are giving the card to. The identities of all players are hidden, but it is not really a social deduction game, as although it might become quite clear who is who after a few rounds, it doesn't make the winning much easier (or the game less enjoyable) - so we call it a social adventure game.

Prerequisite for the reviewers: It doesn't matter much for the size or reach of their channel, but they need to like light non-strategic games, where having a fun time is a main point. Also, they need to play with bigger player count (the game supports 2-10 players, plays better with 3-8, and 5-7 is probably a sweat spot).

Thanks, and have a good day!

If you remember, on Friday, May 10th, a strong solar storm lit up the skies over US and Europe, but I was too busy with work and didn’t even glance out the window. Certainly, when I saw beautiful photos of the aurora on Instagram in the morning, I felt a bit jealous, but still had a lot of work to do. Towards the evening though, the mountain and aurora call was strong enough, so I spontaneously decided to try my luck at night. Luckily, I have a set of spots for night photography that I can head to without any planning and on a late train.
In just half an hour I packed my camping gear, and hopped on the train, grabbing a quick sandwich for dinner at the station kiosk. Leaving home at 6 pm, I reached the camping spot by 10 pm. Although most common sites along this ridge hike were occupied, I found a perfect spot after an hour’s search. I was surprised it wasn’t taken, as it was much better than some of the already taken spots, just slightly off the main trail with a not very obvious approach.

After putting up my tent, I set up my tripod, hoping to catch the aurora. While the aurora didn’t make an appearance that night, Alpstein never disappoints - with or without aurora, it is an absolutely magical place!

We are coming to the UK Game Expo! Visit us at stand 2-664 (right north from the Children’s Zone). May 31 - June 2 @ Birmingham, UK.

We are very excited to be launching our first game Earth Gambit: Light at UKGE! First limited units should be arriving just in time for the Expo. Selling price is only 15£.

Inspired by the Three-Body Problem book, the Earth Gambit is a fun social adventure game with extraterrestrials, hidden identities, and tough choices. In this game, you will play as the Aliens, the Scientists, or the Extinctionists, who each have very different plans for Earth and the course of the Earthlings’ science. Advance the science and share your research with other players, but who can you trust with the groundbreaking discoveries?

Time is limited, options are even more so. Draw one, Play one, Pass one, and keep one for the future (if there will be one). Don’t think too hard, it’s not chess, it’s just the Fate of Earth in your hands.

Last night I had a weird thought: While being very different in nature, our dreams are surprisingly similar to the large neural generative models' outputs.

- Both the dreaming brain, and the Neutral Network (NN) models generate an image based on the previously trained data: in the case of our dreams - the training data is our memories and everything we have seen, heard, and smelled in our life. In the case of NN - it is a carefully picked and prepared learning dataset.

- Both the dreaming brain and the NN models generate spatially consistent images that also can exhibit short time coherence, but a longer time coherency is a big challenge for both. I often have dreams with action movies-like scripts, but there are also many gaps in the stories that don't connect to each other.

What are your dreams like? Have you ever wanted to record them, and then show your blockbusters to other people? And what do you think about AI?

In the picture - one of the characters from the Earth Gambit game. And I am extremely happy we got talented .art to draw the art for the game. Here is where the similarities of our brain with NN end - no AI could have drawn such creative amazing art!

What is your favourite alien life form/first encounter book?

First one that I remember reading was a great novel "The Mote in God's Eye" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin has been a huge inspiration for me, and I highly recommend reading this thought-provoking book (if you haven't yet). I have heard many good reviews about Peter Watts' "Blindsight", but somehow it only works as a good sleeping aid for me. Have you read any of them? Which other books would you recommend? (particularly about alien life forms/first encounters, not the space sagas like Dune, Foundation, etc).
