The Nearness of You…..

The nearness of you in your arms, I tremble,
Silhouetted shadows dance in silent flame,
Your gaze, a tender flame that ignites my soul,
Drawing me closer, whispering my name softly……

The nearness of you as your fingertips trace my skin,
A gentle map of longing, electric and slow,
Every touch a promise, every breath a vow,
Filling the air with unspoken desire’s glow…..

The nearness of you in the quiet of our breathless night,
The world dissolves into the rhythm of our hearts,
Your lips hover near, a promise of sweet surrender,
As I surrender to the pull of your silken charm……

The nearness of you in the heat of your gaze,
It melts the boundaries, blurring the line of space,
Your hands cradle my shoulders, firm yet tender,
Guiding me deeper into this passionate embrace…..

The nearness of you as our shadows intertwine,
A dance of silhouettes in moonlit grace,
In every silent glance, in every shared breath,
I find eternity in the nearness of you’s face…..

The nearness of you as you hold me close,
Makes my body tremble.
As I bathe in the glow of you, your breath, your warmth, my heart doth reassemble…..

Juneteenth: The Dawn of Freedom…..

On the eve of a new dawn, in January’s cold hush,
Silent prayers filled the night—hope in every hush,
Watch Night services in churches and homes took flight,
Waiting for news that would end centuries of night……

Midnight struck, and with it, a promise fulfilled—
The Emancipation Proclamation, a dream distilled,
Declared all enslaved in Confederate land,
Free by law, their chains to disband……

Union soldiers marched with solemn pride,
Black and white, side by side,
Reading the proclamation, spreading the word,
A nation’s conscience stirred……

Yet, in distant Texas, silence still reigned,
Enslaved souls endured, waiting in pain—
Until June 19, 1865,
When Union troops arrived, the news arrived alive—……

Over 250,000 in bo***ge, finally free,
In Galveston Bay, the decree—
Freedom’s cry, a second birth,
A new chapter for black folks on this earth…..

Juneteenth—the day hope was realised,
A symbol of resilience, unbroken, prized—
A day to remember, to honour, to see,
The courage of those who fought to be free……

From chains to schools, from tears to no tears,
Rebuilding lives, confronting fears,
Reunifying families torn apart,
Fighting for justice with brave hearts……

A second independence—America’s true call,
A story often hidden, but standing tall—
A reminder that hope can defy despair,
That freedom is a birthright, a prayer, a prayer……

In history’s pages, the courage gleams,
Of those who dared to dream beyond their dreams—
Juneteenth, a beacon shining bright,
A testament to enduring fight…..

The legacy lives in every story told,
In museums, in hearts, brave and bold,
A day to cherish, a day to fight,
For justice, for freedom, for what is right…..

So let us remember and always hold tight—
The spirit of Juneteenth, our guiding light—
A day when darkness turned to dawn,
A legacy of hope, forever drawn…..

Whispers of Love in the Park....

In the park where time stands still, A woman with white hair, porcelain skin so chill.
In a yellow cotton dress, like a sunlit dream,
In the gentle breeze, she stands, a mesmerising gleam....

Her dress dances with the wind's soft caress,
As the man watches her, his heart in distress.
Day after day, he's drawn to her grace,
Captivated by her beauty, in that tranquil space....

She stands by a statue, water cascading down,
Engaged in its beauty, in her flowy gown.
The man, entranced, by her every move,
In his heart, a feeling he can't remove.....

The park whispers of love in the air, As he watches her, with a silent prayer.
Her presence like a painting, serene and divine,
In the tranquil park where their destinies entwine....

The sunlight plays in her white hair, Her porcelain skin, beyond compare.
As the water cascades, a symphony so sweet,
He falls deeply in love, at her feet.....

Her yellow cotton dress, a vision so bright,
In the soft breeze, a heavenly sight.
In the park's embrace, love blooms anew,
As he longs to be with her, his heart so true....

The statue watches, the water sings, As the man's love for her takes wings.
In the dance of nature, their souls unite,
In the park's serenity, love takes flight.....

Night Is When the Magic Happens…..

Beneath the velvet hush of midnight’s grace,
Where stars like whispered secrets softly trace,
He stands—a shadow kissed by ebony night,
A silent guardian cloaked in celestial light…..

She moves—a shimmer of moon’s pure grace,
Her skin, a canvas of porcelain lace,
White hair flowing like a river of snow,
A ghostly glow in the dark’s gentle glow……

Their eyes convene—an unspoken prayer,
A universe woven in silent stare,
The night breathes in their sacred space,
A dance of shadows, a tender embrace…..

He reaches out—his touch, warm as dawn,
A whisper of longing, a love reborn,
Her hand, like snowflakes melting on skin,
Sparks ignite from deep within…..

Fingers trace the contours of desire,
A symphony of fire and icy fire,
Lips meet softly—an eclipse of time,
Silence sings in a perfect rhyme…..

Stars shimmer brighter—witness and muse,
As night’s enchantment gently infuse,
Two souls entwined in cosmic grace,
Lost in the magic of this sacred space…..

In the hush of night, where dreams ignite,
Their love blooms under moon’s soft light—
A moment sublime, neither needing words,
Just the magic of hearts, perfectly stirred…..

Avayah and the Blackberry Fairy’s Dream….

In a quiet garden, beneath the sun’s gentle glow,
Lived little Avayah, with eyes all aglow.
One twilight evening, as stars started to gleam,
A shimmer appeared — a fairy with a gleam….

Her wings sparkled like midnight’s bright velvet gown,
The Blackberry Fairy, with a smile, cast like a beautiful crown.
“I gather blackberries from the human land,”
She whispered softly, “to share what’s grand.”….

She showed Avayah, plump and ripe,
How blackberries taste — a juicy delight.
“Eat them as they are, sweet and tart,
Or bake them into pies — a work of art.”….

Then, with a swirl of fairy dust, so fine,
She led Avayah to a land divine.
Where blackberries shimmered, glowing in the air,
A magical realm beyond compare…..

In this enchanted fairy land so bright,
Blackberries sparkled with a glow of light.
The fairy waved her tiny hand,
And magic began to spread across the land…..

Blackberries grew into a glowing tree,
Its branches bursting with mystery.
With a gentle touch, Avayah saw —
Blackberries could make a wishes come true, like nothing she had seen before…..

She plucked a berry, and suddenly,
A rainbow danced across the sea.
Fairy folk gathered for a feast so grand,
Blackberries made for this magic band…..

They danced and laughed in a swirling haze,
Blackberries turning night into day.
A fairy orchestra played a tune,
Under a sparkling, silver moon…..

The magic blackberry, so small, so sweet,
Brought joy, wonder, and a special treat.
In Avayah’s heart, she knew then,
Blackberries hold magic — again and again…..

Back in her garden, as dawn drew near,
Avayah whispered, “Magic is here.”
Thanks to the fairy, so kind and bright,
Blackberries are magic — pure delight…..

A Touch of Age at Cannon Hill…..

In Birmingham’s embrace, where history gently sleeps,
Lies Cannon Hill, a treasure that the old clock keeps.
A gift from Louisa, with love and care,
A sanctuary of health, a breath of fresh air…..

In nineteen hundred seventy-three, the gates swung wide,
To unveil the park where dreams reside.
Designed by Gloson, with masterful hand,
A landscape crafted upon the land…..

Amphitheatre nestled in nature’s own bow,
The bandstand stands, a silent vow.
Grade II listed, a relic of yore,
Where melodies drift and spirits soar…..

Once meadows lush, where royal troops paused,
Now stories whisper, ancient and soft.
The Ryland estate, with grace it grew,
A gift of green for me and you…..

Louisa’s vision, pure and grand,
To heal, to gather, to lend a hand.
Her hope: that health and joy would bloom,
Within this park, dispelling gloom…..

John Gibson’s artistry, with lakes and trees,
A landscape born of gentle ease.
From Kew’s seeds, blooms and shrubs unfurled,
A botanical treasure within the world…..

The lakes reflect the sky’s vast grace,
A tranquil mirror, time’s embrace.
The pond, now lost, once called to bath,
A memory’s ripple, a bygone path…..

Journals and botanists, in wonder, roamed,
Studying nature, in city’s home.
Refreshment rooms, carriage rides,
Moments of leisure, joy that abides…..

More land was added, years gone by,
Joys of expansion, beneath the sky.
Queens Ride’s trees, in silent prayer,
Honoring heroes who offered their care…..

Through modern hues and bustling days,
Gibson’s vision still softly stays.
A timeless touch from another age,
Written in the park’s enduring page……

Cannon Hill, a haven, a story, a song,
Where history whispers, eternally strong.
A gift of love, of hope, of grace—
A cherished corner in Birmingham’s embrace…..
