Did you know that I recently joined the roster of mentors for Portfolio Chats?

These chats are created for people from marginalised and oppressed communities.

You can be of any ability and at any point in your career.

Each FREE half-hour chat is a one-to-one conversation with somebody in the industry and you can use this time however you like.

This could include (but is not limited to):
- Talking through your portfolio
- Getting advice on professional practice
- Asking questions about the job and industry
- Chatting through some ideas

We're also in need of NEW MENTORS - If anybody would like to host any of these sessions in the future and help give advice to anybody who wants it, please get in touch with by DM or email at [email protected] (email link also in bio) - a full range of experience and knowledge is needed, so please don't feel intimidated to say hello. Please note that this is an unpaid initiative.

Let's make the industry more diverse together!

After I posted about self-reflection and goal-setting the other day, some of you reached out in my DMs to ask me how to know if a goal or a task is 'the right one' to focus on.

My rule of thumb for this is to be REALLY CLEAR on my direction (or overarching goal) and to ask myself: 'Is this task/goal/opportunity/project moving me closer to my goals?'

If the answer is yes, then I carry on.

If the answer is no, then I leave it out.

I think I originally got this tip from a few years ago and it's served me well!

What do you need help with in the new year? Goal-setting? Evaluating opportunities? Mindset? Something else? Let me know in the comments and I'll make sure I take it into account for my posts and videos in 2022! 👇

If you're wondering what's currently happening in the studio, here's a little update!

As I'm finishing off the last of my client projects for 2021, I'm getting ready to enter the last few days of the year where, after a few days off for Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day I grab my notebook and my diary, and I spend some time reflecting, goal-setting and planning for the year to come.

I blocked time for it in my diary the other day and I can't wait to dig in!

So what does that 'reflecting' involve you ask?

1) I reflect on how the year has been: what worked well in the business, what didn't work so well, what I can tweak or do differently, and I think about areas where I can or want to improve next.

2) I also review what my long-term dreams are for my business and set some goals to make them happen.

3) I revisit product ideas for the shop and actively brainstorm new ones.

4) In the past year or two I also started following the same self-reflection process but at a personal level. I realised that I want to live a full life and although work is a big part of it, there's so much more to life than 'just' work. And in order to have the life that I want, I need to be intentional and create it, not just let life happen 'to me' and then wonder why I'm not living the kind of life that I want.

Do you also make time regularly or at the end of the year to reflect on your business and your personal life, check that you're headed in the right direction for YOU, and set goals for the year? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Artists and creatives often feel icky about selling but what if we reframed it and thought about it as serving instead?

In today’s After Hours (our weekly Monday live here on Insta) we looked at promoting our work / products / services as a way to serve others.

Because if you ‘build it’ and do nothing, they won’t come.

As always, I really appreciate your support! If you've enjoyed this content remember to like and to give me a follow as it helps me reach more people like you!

And if you want to take this to the next level you can now book a mentoring session with me! 👉 link in bio

See you next Monday at 5:30pm GMT for another live After Hours!
