The Situation has been promoting original live music since May 2011 and now in 2022 we are about to launch the Situation Records label. The Situation serves to support and invigorate the independent music scene and aims to work with bands and artists to help them promote their stuff.

A Sunday matinee show is coming up in November and sees the return to The Foxlowe of Lorena Quintanilla from Lorelle Meets The Obsolete.

Their show at The Foxlowe back in May was a real treat. Here, Mexico-based Quintanilla brings her solo vehicle J.Zunz, performing music from her stunning 2026 release 'Obsidiana'.

The album reflects Lorena’s healing journey, translating it into music through multiple layers of ideas and shifting intentions. It has a strong, low-end foundation and combines forbidding drone, ethereal ambience, and insistent repetition to form a seamless whole. It maintains a strong emotional charge on eerie, almost Radiophonic ambience, dancefloor-adjacent, Chris & Cosey-esque, and abrasive, industrial-strength tracks.

J. Zunz is the solo project of Mexican musician Lorena Quintanilla, best known as one half of the acclaimed psych-experimental duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete. Blending hypnotic electronics, haunting vocals, ambient textures and immersive rhythms, J. Zunz creates deeply atmospheric soundscapes that move between minimalism, psychedelia and experimental pop. Her acclaimed releases on Rocket Recordings have earned praise for their emotional intensity and trance-like beauty, making her live performances both captivating and transportive experiences.
