I wanted to have a go at sculpting a human figure for the first time so I made this intergalactic space warrior out of cardboard, air dry clay and an old t-shirt... I guess it's kind of cheating as I didn't have to attempt a face and I was very surprised to find out that hands are easier to sculpt than draw?!
He's a wee bit "flat" and his feet are pointing in funny directions but I'm pretty happy with it!!

Down back street in Leeds city centre, opposite the City Varieties Theatre sits a magical shop selling crystals, incense and jewellery on the ground floor and coffee and books upstairs. Tbh I had never heard of Global Tribe until I was commissioned to make this model recently but after a couple of trips to get a feel for the place (and take a few sneaky photos!) I am now a regular visitor every time I am in town!
I loved making this, and getting lost in the details, and am super proud of how it turned out.

I've been having a wee break from making these to make some other stuff but will be back to them soon so let me know where I should make next and message me for commissions.

I realised it's quite hard to see just how big (or small) my miniature buildings are so I took these photos of them with a banana... (Obviously!)

They are all to the same scale so they would look right if you were to put them together as a street (and what a street that would be!!).

When I'm making them, to give me a starting point to reference I begin with the doors which are all 3cm high.

This means (according to a scale calculator I found online...) they are to a scale of 1:67. (AKA pretty damn small!!)

Message me for commissions.

A few months ago I stumbled across an Instagram account called Revival of the Fittest and I was hooked.
It's like a TV show that follows a small record store in NYC and the people that hang out in it. It was actually the picture of the shop at the start of each video that inspired me to start making these model shop fronts!

The tiny records are loose in the crates as shown in the video with my rather shaky hand...

Repurposed carriage clock. £40

I got this vintage bakelite carriage clock and disemboweled it ( took the clock bits out) then I rebuilt the back ground from air dry clay, painted it gold and added things like a peacock feather and preserved moss and leaves. Then I added an, ethically sourced deer (? Or sheep?) vertebrae that I had cleaned and painted with gold highlights.

Clear plastic front cover is a little scratched but is also removable. I have included pictures of it with and without the cover.

TW: infant mortality, bones.

Something a bit different as this building doesn't actually exist irl! - I was inspired by a beautiful short story by Blindboy Boatclub called the Poitín Maker. I've included some excerpts from the story on the images to explain some of the little details I've included in the model. The story is included in his book "Topographia Hibernica", which I highly recommend, and he reads it aloud on an episode of his podcast called "The Poitín Maker".

This is my first attempt at adding lights to a model too and I think it's worked out well! They flicker to give the impression of an open fire or candles in the cottage.

I feel like it's not fully finished. Every time I look at it or reread the story I find more elements I'd like to add. I also realised as I was making this post that I have the copper worm the wrong way round so will have to alter that at some point... 🙈

Thanks for looking and following! Keep checking back for updates and new stuff.

Dog bless!

Hyde Park Book Club.
Another fantastic small venue. Made even smaller...

I've realised it's hard to see how small my miniature buildings are so I've included some photos of my latest one outside the actual building. I'm going to make a separate post soon about the scale I work in for these with more comparison photos. So keep ya eyes peeled!

Music is by the fantastic Junior Brother who I saw perform here last year.

Part 4 of my series of miniature versions of iconic buildings.
I can't think of a more iconic shop than this one from my favourite movie universe!

Snoochie boochies!
