Stuart bought one of the flower bricks from me at Saltaire. It was lovely of him to send me a photo of it in use.
He thought it was genius that it had a removable lid for cleaning.

If you want one for your flowers, let me know. I can start making.

So when you apply for funding it is actually a competition with 1000's and 1000's of other artists. Is it based on any criteria? Is it about what is trending in the art cannon? Is it based on likes and dislikes of the reader? How much personal bias is involved? Is there a directive from on high about who to fund and not fund?

I didn't really expect a positive outcome for me but it was a really good application. I wanted them to see its merit. Tons of research and potential collaborations were involved.

I don't know any individual that had a successful outcome. Who got funded?

Not bitter just disappointed and exhausted. It feels like the arts in the UK are for the ultra, extremely talented and the rich.

Condolences to all those that tried and failed. Let's pick ourselves up, dust off, and carry on.

I've been making these little circles on and off for about a year now. Aiming for 200.
These are porcelain, others are buff stoneware some are painted with oxides others are coloured with stains.

I have since lost the original reason or plan I had in mind when I started doing them but I know it involves, textiles, canvas and a wall hanging. Let's wait and see.

I applied for a Research and Development grant from the Arts Council in February. We all get our decisions today. I am too cowardly to look now. Will do it later. Want to bask in the space of possibility a little longer, that I have occupied for a few months now.

I woke up this morning with a plan to sort out my bedroomdo some kitchen tidying and run into town for a book I ordered.

I got as far as sorting the laundry when I came across some coloured pencils I bought at a junk sale some months back. 'Let me try them' I thought....an hour or so later filled with some degree of disappointment in myself and not sure what to think of the quality of the pencils, I thought if I post my doodles and colour testing on line then it won't be a total waste of a whole hour.

Colour Time theory wastage = keywords

So badly photographed too..

Spent the last 2 days at as part of .
It has been an interesting 2 days.

Glad to have done it and satisfied my curiosity. Hard work. Lots of sacrifices causing tension in other parts of my life.

I am going to lie in tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone that supported the business from near and far.

Next arts fair: in September.

Some of the kiln offerings for

I actually have a perfectly decent Cannon 450 D. Not used it for ages..years. How wasteful.. My Samsung (or me) did not perform well with these photos.

Next time will be better. I think I might bring my camera with me on Sunday and Monday and remind myself how to use it.

Going through all my bags of raw materials for glaze making is tedious. I have plenty but not the ones I needed for making the glazes I use. Was only able to make one glaze out of the 7 I had planned! Life in the small pottery studio.

So today I will be glazing with the dregs that I currently have... more annoying. I failed to plan but I will not fail.

Need to improve the glaze material storage though. Think I will make some tags for the bags.

These were genuinely fun to make. Quick with lots of potential for development.

I made them with different sized dowelling rods by pushing the rods up the middle of a roll of clay then rolling it out to desired size. Not a new technique by any means but I hadn't taken it seriously before... There are draw backs such as having really thin spots and really thick spots but let's see what happens in the drying then the firing.

I may regret and loath them later never to be made again..

Enjoy the day
