🏆✨ SIX AWARDS FOR SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE! ✨🏆

What an incredible night at the LCAN Guild Awards last night! After receiving an amazing 12 nominations, our production of Sondheim's 'Sunday in the Park with George' came away with SIX awards! 🎭💛

🏆 Joyce Mower Rose Bowl for Best Musical
🏆 Dave Peters Trophy for Best Stage Presentation
🏆 Pauline Tinsley Trophy for Best Actor in a Musical Production - Jason Weightman
🏆 Trophy for Best Actress in a Musical Production - Lizzie Relins
🏆 Best Director - Anita Adams
🏆 Trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical Production - Hayley Harris

We are incredibly proud of everyone who helped bring this very special production to life, both on stage and behind the scenes. Thank you to every single person who gave their time, talent and energy to Sunday in the Park with George and to everyone who came along to support the show. ❤️

Last night was also a wonderful celebration of everything that makes community theatre so special. It was fantastic to come together with societies from across Leeds Community Arts Network, celebrating one another’s work and both giving and receiving so much support from true community theatre heroes.

A huge congratulations to all of this year’s nominees and winners! 👏

It is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of Harry Heyworth, a former playing member of the Society.

Harry was a gentle giant, a kind man who was always interested in others and who loved performing the G&S operas. Before joining Leeds G&S he was a member of West Riding Opera and loved opera and operetta all his life.

He continued to perform with us until his mobility issues finally forced him to retire from the stage, but he continued to support us, and loved to catch up on all the Society news.

Rest in peace, Harry.

⚓ Pirates of Penzance 2027 - Audition Sign-Ups ⚓

⏳ Sign-up Deadline- TONIGHT: Midnight on Sunday 21st June 2026

Thank you to everyone who attended our information evening. It was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces in the room!

We're delighted by the fantastic response we've received so far for our 2027 production of The Pirates of Penzance.

If you'd like to audition for a principal role or register your interest in joining the ensemble, please complete the sign-up form (see our comments!)

📅 Principal Auditions: Monday 29th June 2026
🕡 Slots available 6:30pm - 9:30pm
📍 The Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds

Principal audition slots will be allocated shortly after the deadline. If you're unavailable on 29th June, please still complete the form and let us know.

Join us tomorrow (Friday 12th June) for an evening of laughter, friendly competition, and wonderfully ridiculous prizes!

If you've been before, you'll know just how competitive drawing a beetle can get. If you haven't - prepare yourself for a fabulously silly night. No skill required, just a willingness to roll the dice and embrace the chaos!

Our society members on stage, orchestra, those backstage helping with props, front of house volunteers, lighting, sound, fliers, costume organisers, stage painters, stage designers, photographers, committee members, those helping with the get in and the strike, programme designers, marketing assistants, artistic director, musical director and so many others who have helped in all aspects of this stunning show, THANK YOU 💚
