We had such a fabulous Sunday delivering our Lampshade Making workshop Swarthmore Education Centre - as usual we forgot to take any photos 🤦‍♀️

Happy everyone!! 🌎

Did you know that Florence Makes will never buy new maps to use in our pieces.
We carefully source pre-loved maps which have fallen into disuse! That’s why you might find handwriting on your lampshade.
We think it makes them even more special.

We’ve combined a pastel version of our ever popular rainbow lamp with our classic map lamp.

This particular one has utilised a map of lovely - the home of our studio!

Florence Makes

Florence Hoy is the designer/maker behind Florence Makes and is currently based in Leeds. Florence was originally trained in ceramics but found more joy in creating the paper test pieces prior to crafting the vessel. As a result, she now works primarily with found papers included vintage Ordnance Survey maps, rail tickets & British stamps.

Available in store as part of our retail showcase 'A Sense of Place'. The showcase presents a curated collection of artists and makers who each respond to their surroundings throughout their work.

Florence Hoy yw'r dylunydd/gwneuthurwr y tu ôl i Florence Makes ac mae wedi'i lleoli ar hyn o bryd yn Leeds. Hyfforddwyd Florence mewn cerameg yn wreiddiol ond cafodd fwy o lawenydd wrth greu'r darnau prawf papur cyn crefftio'r llestr.
