Introducing the women of the revolution!
Fran H***e: Publicity officer.
Who is an influential woman in your life?
“It’s kinda cliché, but it’d have to be my best friend from back home, Sarah. She’s had a hard time of it, not going into details, but watching her cope and watching her family work with each other to get through all the things that come up in their life, it’s just so amazing. Life has thrown her so many curveballs, and she just keeps hitting them right back, she’s such an amazing woman, and it’s crazy because I don’t think she realises just how strong and influential she is. And she is always there for me, like, I could be upset about something so insignificant, but I’ll text her about it, and she’ll always reply, and say ‘Let’s go for a walk, let’s clear our heads and talk about it’, she’s just always supportive. She is the perfect example of how women can empower other women, because I always feel better after talking to her, and I hope she feels the same about me too. Her friendship means so much to me, and it’s crazy because we met in year 7 or 8 in middle school, and yeah, we were friends, then we went to high school and we kinda drifted apart, she was the pretty popular girl, not like that’s a bad thing, and I was a bit of an inbetweener, but then we went to college with each other and we said ‘f**k it’ to the whole concept of popularity and cliques, and we liked each other for who we were, and there was nothing else to it. We grew up and matured, I guess. In year 7, I would never have known that the pretty blonde American girl who had just moved to England would become such a huge part of my life, and now, nearly 10 years later, here we are. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
