We are a society open to all with an interest in ballet, whether you want to improve your technique or just have fun whilst keeping fit and making new friends. We cater for everyone, from complete beginners to advanced level dancers. Our classes take place in the dance studios at Leeds University Union and Stage@Leeds, and are run by professional teachers. We don't audition (except for our advance
d and intermediate competition teams) so it's up to you which class you join. A full list of our 2022/23 semester 1 classes and grade descriptions that will help you choose the best class for you will be posted soon. The Ballet Society takes part in the LUU Dance Show which is usually at the beginning of March. This is a really great way to get involved in the Union, do something a bit different and meet people from all of Leeds' other dance societies. You don't have to take part in the performance part of the society and as a result, the show classes will be separate from technique classes. Our competition teams are a great way to put your technique to the test and a chance to create stronger times with your teammates - both teams have a history of success and our intermediate and advanced teams even bringing home a total of 7 trophies last year, after one of the toughest years for rehearsals to date - we can't wait to see what this years teams can achieve! If you don't manage to get into a suitable class at the beginning of term, we do have waiting lists which move quickly, so please get in touch!
