[Designers of the Future] is a new free part-time 5-week creative course by Lord Whitney. It aims to support young people aged 18-24 who are not in employment or education wanting to kickstart a creative career. We believe that there is no “standard route” into the creative industries but with curiosity, inventiveness, and resilience, anyone can pursue working in a creative role. We will provide practical designing and making experience, as well as share our knowledge and help instil the interpersonal skills needed to develop in the creative industries. Massive thank you to everyone who submitted to our first residency opportunity. We’ve loved reading about the artists and projects. It’s exciting to find out about so much amazing talent in Leeds. RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITY ALERT!

We are opening our doors to artists, creatives and makers. We're offering residencies across two of our spaces – our studio and workshop – to provide local creatives with space to develop and realise creative projects. Wanna make a music video? Build a new prototype? Or develop a new idea? We’ve got space for people to explore, play, make and develop.

We are offering eight x 5 day residencies in either our studio or workshop, with a £100 subsidy per residency as a contribution towards food and travel costs. Funded by Leeds Inspired and Arts Council England.

Yesterday we had the marvellous femalemagik in the space talking about challenges to wellbeing faced by women working in the creative industries, the difficulties of saying 'no' to underpaid work, and more. It's wonderful to have seen so many inspirational women talking and in attendance. The podcast will be being posted by Female Magik later in the month for anyone who missed out...🎤🎤🎤
