Hi Everyone. after a great summer we have decided to have a short concert on Thursday 27th August (start 7.45pm) followed by tea and cakes for our families and friends.
Admission is FREE.
Venue is Moortown Methodist Church, Moortown, Leeds.
If you are free that night please come along and listen to some great music, thank you 😀😁😄

Found a link for Aaron Coplands "Simple Gifts" for you all to have a listen to.
But as with the other pieces we will be playing , we are playing an arrangement of this piece, so dont panic if your instrument sounds hard !!

Ive been asked about the fee for Leeds Summer Orchestra at £7 per night.
We had a fee of £5 previously (and this was set for well over 10 years) but sadly costs everywhere are rising.
All I am looking to achieve is that we cover our costs (room hire, conductors fee, refreshments and a little bit of printing)
So, if we get enough people attending regularly we will drop the fee back to a fiver.

Pieces chosen to play so far are
(1) Opening movement of Mozart symphony No 25 (as used in the film Amadeus)
(2) A piece from Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone
(3) The "Love theme" from Thorn Birds and
(4) a Waltz you wont have heard but its great fun.
(Waltz of the roses or Gramaphon By Eugen Doga)
(5)Simple Gifts by Aaron Copland
Plus maybe a few surprises !!

HI EVERYONE. NEED SOMEWHERE TO PLAY OVER SUMMER OR KEEP YOUR HAND IN ON A SECOND INSTRUMENT ?
The Leeds Summer Orchestra is now 3 weeks in and going really well.
Don't forget, Thursday nights, July/August 7pm to 9.30pm at Moortown Methodist church, Leeds, LS17 5LH.
Refreshments and all music provided but PLEASE bring a music stand.
The Orchestra is open to anyone, any ability (beginners to advanced players) Just come, have fun and pay your weekly subs is all we ask (£7 per night or pay £20 for 3 weeks)

The music is (as always) varied and fun and comprises of an opening movement from a Mozart symphony. A piece from an old tv series you will love. A piece by Ennio Morricone, and a Waltz you will never have heard before (but cant stop singing in your head once you have heard it) An opening movement from a Hyden symphony and a short piece written by one of our members.
Please, if this is for you (making music, meeting new friends and having fun) just turn up on Thursday.

Hi De Hi. Confirmation of the start date as promised. We will begin on Thursday 2nd July 2026 at 7pm till 9,30pm at Moortown Methodist Church, Moortown, Leeds 17. As before, all abilities welcome, just turn up, and have fun playing some of the worlds greatest music. See you all there.
