With the recent news stories about spiking that have been circulating, this is a really scary time for womxn and lgbt+ people. Sexual assault in clubs is an issue that has sadly affected us in these communities for too long.
Drag n Bass was started with the goal of providing a safe place for people to rave, no matter who they are. We will do everything in our power to keep it that way.
Our venue, Wharf Chambers, have an amazing pre-existing safe space policy (the link is in our bio) but we wanted to do more. After reading the recommendations of the Girls Night In movement, we’ve appointed a Welfare Officer to be present at all our events. This Welfare Officer is fully first aid trained and will be proactively monitoring our events. If at any point you if you feel scared, unsafe or even just that you’ve had a little too much to drink, you can approach them (or any of the bar staff/events team). We will help you, no questions asked. Whether that be phoning a friend for you, waiting with you for a taxi or removing somebody from the venue whose behaviour is making you feel unsafe.
We’ve also consulted with an expert in Sexual Violence who is producing guidelines that we’re distributing to all our events team.
Love & Solidarity to all x
