Airbrush painters know how satisfying this is... 🎨

That first smooth coat going down just hits differently.

Watching the colour slowly build up, the grey disappear and all those details stay nice and sharp underneath...

I could genuinely sit and do this for hours. 😅

I'm still getting the hang of the airbrush, but every time I use it I find another reason I should have bought one years ago.

The only downside?

Cleaning the thing afterwards. 😂

Your miniature isn’t finished until you do this...

You can spend hours getting the paint exactly how you want it.

Highlights done.

Details picked out.

Everything looking good.

Then you look at the base... 😅

It’s amazing how much difference a bit of groundwork, flock and a few finishing touches can make.

For me, the base is what takes a miniature from painted to actually finished.

It doesn’t need to be complicated either. Sometimes the simplest bases are the ones that make the model stand out the most.

Although I’m definitely guilty of having painted models sat around for weeks because I haven’t bothered finishing their bases. 😂

Do you enjoy basing, or is it the bit you just want to get over with?

I should have bought an airbrush years ago...

Seriously, why did I wait so long? 😅

Jobs that used to take ages with a brush suddenly take a fraction of the time.

Base coats are quicker.

Blending is easier.

And getting smooth colour across a larger miniature is so much less painful.

I'm still learning and there's definitely a lot I need to get better at, but I'm already wondering how I managed without one.

If you've been thinking about getting an airbrush for miniature painting, I completely understand why people recommend them now.

I always forget how much difference this makes...

You can spend ages painting the miniature itself, getting all the little details right...

Then you start working on the base.

A bit of texture.

Some flock.

A couple of tufts.

And suddenly the whole model looks completely different.

It's such a small part of the process, but it does so much to make the miniature feel finished.

And yet somehow I still leave it until the very end every single time. 😅

Anyone else guilty of having fully painted miniatures sitting on unfinished bases?

You've finally got enough colour down that you can see where the model is heading, but there's still loads left to do.

Highlights, shadows, smaller details, the base... all the bits that really start bringing everything together.

Every hobbyist knows this exact pain...

You finally get everything lined up perfectly.

Model ready.

Parts ready.

Glue in hand.

Give the bottle a squeeze...

Nothing.

Squeeze harder.

Still nothing.

Check the nozzle.

Blocked. Again. 😂

Then you spend the next five minutes trying to unblock the glue instead of actually building the miniature.

It's one of those tiny hobby problems that somehow manages to be incredibly annoying every single time.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who ends up fighting with the glue bottle more than the miniature.
