An evening with Helen Carter.
Helen demonstrated the use of Watercolour Pencils to produce a graphic image from a source photograph. Maintaining a sharp nib Helen was able to transfer the colour either directly onto her preferred choice of paper, using a damp brush to blend the colour, up to 10 or more layers to create the depth of contrast or making a pallet, wetting the nib to create final highlights.

Helen Is holding a full days Colour Pencil (dry pencil) workshop in Warsash on 4th of July.
This is open to beginners and those with a little experience.

Helen Carter is a full-time colour pencil artist specialising in highly detailed photo-realism of colourful and often complex subjects. She is a respected Artist Ambassador for Derwent, producing work in a range of styles and is featured on the new Inktense Pencil packaging.
You are welcome to bring your own water colour pencils and sketch pad to take notes.

Evening demo with Richard Paul.

Richard had prepared a painting of a Balloon Festival which he had constructed using various photographs. He began painting the figures, using oil paints, explaining the use of his choice of colours, blending them on the canvas.
There was some interest shown on how to start using oil paints and the choice of colours to use. Richard has put together a brief starters guide, if you would like a copy please let me know and I’ll forward a copy.

Evening demonstration with Richard Paul.

Richard has travelled extensively through out the country capturing many images on his adventures. From mountains, he moved to painting beaches, his diversification continued with Highland Cattle, Butterflies and industrial landscapes.
2019 saw him paint more human landscapes, requiring him to master the human figure as part of the view. His mission now is to capture the essence of life today, much as the Impressionists did at the end of the nineteenth century, albeit in a very different style.
