Lee-on-the-Solent Art Group invite you to an evening with Caroline Shields
Linocut and Printing demonstration with Caroline Shields - Tuesday 8th September 2026
Caroline is a local artist and particularity a printmaker. Her relief prints are themed around her impressions of the English countryside and some of its wildlife, but with a playful abstraction of the subject matter and the use of bold colour. Caroline creates small editions of her work and such is the nature of relief printmaking that individually unique pieces of artwork are produced which will vary subtly in colour palette and line definition.

Non-members are very welcome, a small charge of £5 will be required on entry. To be held at the Methodist Church Hall, Lee-on-the-Solent High Street, PO13 9HY from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.

Time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm, please arrive a little earlier if possible to set up.

A cost of £6.50 for members, £7.50 non members, to be paid in cash on the day.

Please bring with you a sharp pair of scissors and a piece of mount card. Everything else will be supplied including examples of pictures to be copied.

A workshop with Wendy Saunders, Wednesday 15th July
The choice of two subjects was given by Wendy, A Pier or The Child on the Beach. The Child on the Beach was chosen, a challenging subject, but some excellent painting were produced.

Evening Demonstration with Tracy Evans (Port and Lemon)
Tracy introduced us to her method of collage art, using an under painting, producing her own printed papers using a gel plate with a range of templates, creating a range of colours and patterns.
After sourcing a range of colours and patterns Tracy used them to develop her interpretation of the image based on her sourced photo.

Evening Demonstration with Tracy Evans (Port and Lemon)
Tuesday 14th July
Tracy Evans is a mixed media artist and textile designer and best known for her quirky collage depictions of local areas, and designs under the name of Port and Lemon, her design company bringing fun nautical imagery and cheesy puns to a coordinated range of home and gifts, art prints and cards.

You can find Tracy’s working studio in Stoke Road, where she also teaches a variety of art practise with small group workshops.

An evening with Helen Carter.
Helen demonstrated the use of Watercolour Pencils to produce a graphic image from a source photograph. Maintaining a sharp nib Helen was able to transfer the colour either directly onto her preferred choice of paper, using a damp brush to blend the colour, up to 10 or more layers to create the depth of contrast or making a pallet, wetting the nib to create final highlights.

Helen Is holding a full days Colour Pencil (dry pencil) workshop in Warsash on 4th of July.
This is open to beginners and those with a little experience.
