Fetcham Park’s history extends well beyond the walls of the house.

The gardens were originally landscaped by George London, one of the most influential garden designers and nurserymen of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. London also worked on celebrated landscapes at Hampton Court, Chatsworth and elsewhere.

On Heritage Open Day, visitors can stroll through the private grounds, enjoy the lawns and fountains - and even bring a picnic.

Join us this Saturday 12 September, 10am–4.30pm. Admission and on-site parking are free.

Look up when you visit Fetcham Park - you won’t want to miss what’s above you.

The house’s magnificent staircase is surrounded by original murals by Louis Laguerre, the celebrated French-born artist whose work can also be found at Blenheim Palace, Chatsworth and Hampton Court.

These dramatic paintings and the staircase’s intricate carved details are among the treasures waiting to be discovered during Heritage Open Day.

See them for yourself this Saturday 12 September, from 10am–4.30pm. Entry is free and no booking is needed.

Did you know that Fetcham Park was designed by one of the leading architects of his age?

Built in 1705, the house was designed by William Talman, a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren, and an architect whose principal work is recognised to be Chatsworth House, considered to be the first baroque private house in Britain. Talman was also responsible for some of England’s grandest country-house architecture.

More than three centuries later, Fetcham Park’s elegant Queen Anne character still shines through - making Heritage Open Day the perfect opportunity to step inside and take a closer look.
