With just over 9 weeks until the start of there are exciting things happening at Art @ St Nicholas House, with three new artists presenting their work as part of this LAYERS exhibition.
Joining and her paintings are:
Eric Klein Velderman - Eric transitions from print-based work to sculptural form depending on his artistic focus. Whether mixing rabbit skin glue with clay bole or combining copper leaf with sulphates, his practice investigates the chemical consequences of juxtaposing and layering materials. His work uses architectural forms and the natural world as a starting point for development.
Helen Dugdale - Creating both jewellery and metal vessels, Helen skillfully interlocks her materials in a variety of ways. Her work carries a quiet conceptual depth too, with a strong underlying influence drawn from the visual significance of old linen bindings used in the ancient process of mummification - a tightly bound image that has become a visual metaphor for the invisible bindings we have within us to protect ourselves, but also restrict and hold us back.
Katherine Taylor - Producing hand-built black stoneware vessels, Katherine’s process is equally about accumulation and revelation: she combines her interest in form, colour, and drawing, emphasising texture and narrative through layered techniques. She uses engobes, glazes, and mark-making, with vessels deeply influenced by the environments she engages with, evoking memories and a sense of place.
