20” x 16”
⭐️ Available but will be shown at Oxford artweeks, DM me for details or visit their site. (Link in b!o! 🥰)
The glow of the face is so strong yet so subtle! You can’t really see it in the daylight at all and then boom it just instantly hits you when it’s dark 🙌🏽
Every time I’ve shown this piece it gets a different reaction and interpretation. What do you think, please let me know! 👇🏽
🦛🎨🩵:
‘Painting 101’ is the start of a new chapter. After painting everything under the sun, this past year, I felt a bit lost in terms of what I wanted to paint. I love painting landscapes and fairylights don’t get me wrong, but it felt as though something was missing.
So I went back to my drawing board and narrowed it down to my aims, goals and passion for art. It lead me back to my notes at university where I learnt the ‘Fundamentals of Art’ (the title of the notebook in this painting). Almost like, ‘Painting 101’.
I remember my art tutor telling me to ‘just paint’ whenever I got too much into my own head. And so I did exactly that, I painted my notebook along with the titles and coffee stains.
When it glows in the dark the notebook changes to ‘How To Paint’ and a face is revealed in the cups. This piece is open to interpretation because I know others have interpreted many things such as; coffee jitters and just ‘a face’ 😂😂 and honestly I love it!
For me, it’s about the pressure and anxiety that I feel as an artist and creator. The balance between making things that are authentic to you and then making things that are more commercialised and perhaps sell better.
So this collection is just that about the pressures of finding the balance and the anxiety too! ❤️🩹
But do let me know what you think 👇🏽🦛
