Wendy Cook Art

Wendy Cook Art I am an artist who lives and works in Leamington Spa. I like shapes, colours and light and that is what I am seeing when I pick a subject.

I paint all sorts of subjects such as portraits, animals, figurative but my main love is painting stillife. I don't use any mechanical aids to transfer a likeness on to the canvas so, sometimes, my images are not quite perfect. I always sketch with paint usually using just 2 colours, raw umber and Alkyd titanium white. Here's a bit of arty BS for you: My work explores the relationship between Bau

hausian sensibilities and recycling culture. With influences as diverse as Rousseau and Joni Mitchell, new combinations are distilled from both simple and complex dialogues. Ever since I was a pre-adolescent I have been fascinated by the theoretical limits of the mind. What starts out as contemplation soon becomes corroded into a carnival of greed, leaving only a sense of decadence and the prospect of a new understanding. As spatial forms become clarified through boundaried and critical practice, the viewer is left with an insight into the outposts of our future. I mainly show my work in the local area of Leamington Spa but I have shown in other areas too including Worcester, Coventry, Lincoln and Rugby.

Sorry it's late but I wish you all a happy new year. I moved out of the studios just before Christmas and that event got in the way of me setting up back in my old one. Now I'm up and running again and this is a work in progress. Don't know if you can tell what it will be. :D

Almost finished this one. it's been taking a long time as I've been rather busy on lots of other stuff.

In 2010 I started a new modelling venture - building 40mm AWI/ACW terrain pieces and designing 28mm masters, which are then cast and available fo…

Finally started a new still life painting, partially started with pencil drawing still showing.

I've changed that painting of Burano by covering it in Payne's Grey, I kind of like it, before "black out" wasn't keen at all.
