⭐️ In memory of Peggy Inglis ⭐️
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Peggy Inglis, who passed away this week at the age of 96.
Peggy was a remarkable part of the fabric of Largs’ theatre and dance community for decades. Generations of local children knew her through her dance school, Peggy Inglis school of Dance, which inspired and encouraged young performers from 1969 to 1998. She was a familiar face at Barrfields, producing 25 pantomimes and countless summer cabarets with Largs Players, with late husband Tom ever the supporter as Stage Manager. She was rightly described by the local arts community as a leading light in local entertainment.
As an Honorary Member of Largs Players, Peggy’s contribution to amateur theatre was extraordinary. Her dedication, talent, encouragement and friendship helped shape the experiences of so many people over the years. Her legacy is woven into the history of Barrfields Theatre, where a dressing room proudly bears her name plaque, a fitting tribute to someone who gave so much to the theatre she loved.
Peggy’s influence extended far beyond the stage. She inspired confidence, creativity and a love of performing in generations of young people, many of whom will carry treasured memories of her throughout their lives, and a number of those “wee girls” have gone on to establish professional career or continue to carry the amateur torch locally.
She leaves behind a lasting legacy in the countless performers, audiences, friends and families whose lives she touched.
