Barrfields Theatre User Group was constituted in 2012, in response to a pressure group - its main purpose to develop and promote the historic Barrfields Pavilion Theatre in Largs now in its 82nd year of operation. The charity has been set up to be non-profit making; its main m
ission to upgrade and improve the facility for both its regular users and audience alike. To do this we intend to generate income by bringing professional performances back to the venue, applying for both local and national funding, co-ordinating fundraising ventures and setting up donation schemes.
100% of income generated will then be used to upgrade the technical facilities, improve the appearance and comfort of the venue for patrons and reinvest back into our programme as subsidy for all kinds of artistic events. Throughout the first half of the twentieth century, the Barrfields Pavilion was regarded as one of Scotland's most vibrant entertainment venues - the very venue that launched the careers of legends of Hollywood icons Pat Kirkwood and Donald Peers and the seasonal home for many years to greats of Scottish showbusiness such as Rikki Fulton, Jimmy Logan, Stanley Baxter, Jack Milroy and Johnny Beattie. The aim of our new charity is to place our much-loved theatre back as a leading venue on the touring circuit, whilst developing it as a dynamic, artistic hub of the local community.
