Say hello to The Light; a bold new space for creativity, collaboration and big ideas in the heart of Durham.

But this isn’t your traditional museum or gallery combo; The Light is bringing together artists, scientists, communities and creators to experiment, collaborate and inspire each other through immersive experiences, events, exhibitions and learning opportunities.

Powered by creativity, innovation, technology and partnerships, The Light is set to earn its place on everyone’s must-visit bucket list ✨

And it’s not just what’s inside… 🌿

Set within beautiful natural grounds, The Light will also offer outdoor spaces to explore, play and enjoy, creating a brilliant destination for discovery, creativity and connection both indoors and out.

Like its sister venue The Story Durham, it marks Durham’s proud investment in culture and place making! The build is finished, they are now fitting it out and recruiting the team….whilst no opening date has been announced, it feels like the count down is on and I can’t wait! 🌟

Brilliant news that The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England have awards grants to Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens. Wonderful to see continued development and investment in such an amazing place.

𝑰𝑪𝒀𝑴𝑰 - Ushaw is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a total of £400,000 in funding to support a transformative vision for the site.

The The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded £250,000 and Historic England have granted £150,000 to support the next phase of development at this nationally significant heritage site.
