BOG WITCH 🧙‍♀️

Bog Witch is a show about uncertain times, ecosystem collapse and finding new ways to be happy. Bryony had enough to worry about; mental illness, a sick kid, single motherhood, bills coming out of her ears… she didn’t have time to worry about the planet. She had her coping mechanisms down pat —spending, doing, achieving to fill the void. But she began to wonder if those were the things that were making her unhappy. As with all her previous autobiographical shows Bog Witch follows a part of Kimmings’ real life story… this time the journey of uprooting her and her son’s life to live in a tumbledown cottage in the wilderness… to plug back into nature as a last ditch attempt to be happy again.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers - and we LOVE ours!

The Dukes would not be able to run without the tireless efforts of our fantastic and enthusiastic volunteers. With an enthusiasm that is infectious, they're even happy picking up a paint brush or counting how many cake forks we have. They're all amazing, we're extremely lucky to have their wonderful support. From our Board of Trustees to our ushers, they make us who we are and we are so grateful for them ❤️

🌳 We're looking forward to this year's Park Show and looking BACK at some of our previous ones!

We always have a hoot in the park over summer and this year is looking to be no exception! Expect merriment, tomfoolery and treacherous tournaments from Robin Hood, so make sure to join us at Williamson Park between the 17th July and the 23rd of August! 🏹

Since 2017, HER have been redefining Shakespeare with their groundbreaking annual tradition that reimagines the Bard's works through an all-female and non-binary cast. Their 2024 ’Taming of the ’Shrew’ was listed in The Stage’s Top 50 Shows of the Year and will be transferring to London in 2026.

NEW SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

A New Comedy Show by Daniel Kitson.

There’s the sound of somewhere else and the permanence of a plant pot and the ubiquity of a phrase and the heartbreaking brevity of a very long time. There’s figs and worms and an old dog rejecting a blanket. There’s a woman, on a train, wearing a badge. There’s the first beep of a smoke alarm and there’s a daffodil in December and there’s the condition of fruit. There’s a hand in bed and there’s stuff on the stairs and there’s a mark on my jumper and there’s a massive tree in storage on a farm in Kent. There’s nothing to say and there’s the thought of rotting and there’s the name of a feeling and there’s the smell of to***co. There’s the twelfth floor of a hotel and the far end of a platform at Tamworth train station. There’s a duty to act and there’s a resistance to growth and there’s a new place up the road and there’s a completely redundant volume control. There’s a toilet in Hong Kong and a coffee shop in Melbourne and the passage of light through a building and deliberately making things much more difficult than they actually need to be.

And.

There’s music, more or less throughout, at least two funny voices and upwards of three jokes.

On Wednesday, six community groups gathered together to share their work inspired by the concept of 'Roots', and we loved every second of it! Every single person involved showcased incredible talent, passion and creativity, making it a brilliant day of community and connection 🌟

A GINORMOUS well done to all the groups for their work, including Prime Time, RAIS Lancaster, Barnardo’s Lancashire Young Carers, Q***r By Gum CIC, Unique Kidz & Co and Traveller Heritage!
