Stylish in the woods! Part 3 of a series of seasonal days outdoor for the wonderful women and children of East meets West Lancaster group for refugees. The ladies always managed to bring Style and detail to the shared picnics including fancy golden cafetières. These days are always buzzing with curiosity, playfulness, sharing about the cultures they come from and lots of crafts and laughter. They have become addicted to the hammocks and it's wonderful to see their mums as well as the teens and children enjoying the hammock village we put up.

Stuck - unstuck OR gifts come in so many guises. After an exquisite time getting to know a new place (shown by one of my beautiful stomping ground colleagues), I managed to drive half of my van into a precarious position overhanging a deep ditch. The second car after me needing to get through was a 4x4 though with a friendly and patient driver So we had an interesting time strategizing about how to avoid the rocks and dips and the main ditch getting me out. Here is a shout out for life sending me challenges and then good humans to the wayside and to Toyota trucks! (And how could that happen You might want to know? My brain was getting stuck in a rabbit hole trying to work out something on the right hand side of the road, and the road was very narrow, and there we go suddenly my scrape board was cosying up with the very left edge of the tarmac...)

One of the strangest places I've worked at! Wonderful work from the Cumbria Connect day at Lowther Castle. Cumbria Connect is a great initiative about linking habitats and ecosystems. My work featured facilitating the making of nature mystery sticks to mark Natural mysteries, and plenty of bracelets, bookmarks and key rings made from native plant fibre cordage. The highlight: Lottie the lynx with her awesome yellow flag Iris collier, featuring a solitary knopper gall pendant.

Wild Roots Lancaster Nature Connection Festival! Probably about the most windy cordage making session I've ever had... Followed by a yummy Saturday afternoon session playing sneaking and Fox walking games with some 20 people of various ages. Blindfold games, learning to slow down and change our gait so we create less disturbance in nature, all wrapped in good games that many wanted to play again and again. Sorry, no photos from the play session, for one thing for safeguarding reasons and also because I was too busy playing myself :-)

Bark-time! Oak bark for tanning, elm bark for chair seats and baskets. Or so we thought! Turns out the elm was an alder and It is one big experiment whether we can use the beautiful coils of orange bark. At least I didn't need to go to the tanning Studio to get my hands nice and brown
