Lancaster Emerging Arts Platform

Lancaster Emerging Arts Platform www.talkwithleap.com We produce, curate, develop and share emerging creative practices with a focus on live, interdisciplinary and collaborative work.

LEAP is a Lancaster-based platform for artists, creative individuals and those unsure what to call themselves, to share ideas as well as the skills and knowledge required to make things and make things happen. We are working alongside a number of venues and organisations towards making Lancaster and the surrounding area an exciting and vibrant nest where art can emerge and grow. We are aiming to b

uild a community of creative individuals working collaboratively towards achieving artistic excellence without the fear of failure and hoping to play a key role in shaping the creative and cultural landscape of tomorrow. We are always but one click away, so if you would like to discuss a project with us, please get in touch.

This week, join Chloé Déchery at Shoreditch Town Hall in exploring friendship, labour, and long-distance relationships; ultimately climaxing with the unexpected encounter between a glass of champagne and a knife on stage.

"A Duet Without You" is a solo performance trying (and inevitably failing) to be a duet. Re-enacting a pas-de-deux without a partner, Chloé Déchery embarks on a…

Between Us is a brief encounter with a stranger. It’s a short story, a snapshot of the everyday. You are invited to celebrate the things that matter to you, to commemorate the small things, the bits of life which you’d like to remember. What is your 4th July? Whose birthday would you never forget? W…

Hello everyone,

We're putting together a collection of nice quotes from people who feel having engaged with (Talk with) LEAP enabled them to do something they wouldn't otherwise have been able to/contributed to their artistic and/or professional development...
It's for a bunch of funding applications which will support a new turn for the organisation over the next few months/years....
I've emailed some of the obvious suspects, but if you feel you'd like to say something nice about the stuff we've done - do comment here or email [email protected]
Looking for short quotes rather than longer statements, if possible
Thanks everyone xx

GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS
If anyone knows of any artists, creatives or producers who are also artists and would be interested in this below then please pass on.

Derelict & performance company Angel Club (north) are calling for proposals and expressions of interest for Forensic – a full day of site-specific and sited performance.

‘Forensic’ is one part of Derelict Sites a wider festival of public engagement and sited performance taking place in Preston between Saturday 11th and Sunday 19th April 2015. The festival will be drawing together artists of regional, national and international standing to present work in Preston’s most prominent and visible display of Contemporary Performance to date. Deadline: Friday 6th March, 12 noon.

We are currently looking for work to inhabit five spaces in 3 different but inter-connected Forensic Crime Houses on Saturday 18th April. The spaces available for proposal are:
Open Plan Kitchen/Living Room
Open Plan Kitchen/Living Room
Small Bar (with full bar, pumps, stools and tables)
Small Post Office Cashier Window
Small Living Room

The Forensic Crime houses usually serve as training sites for forensic investigations into crimes of the everyday, mundane and unexpected. Proposals might choose to respond to these themes although this is not a pre-requisite. We are looking for a variety of one to one, durational and short 20-minute performances. Installations will also be considered. Please follow this link https://www.dropbox.com/…/1zizy0…/AADArxijmDDIMJMNwA8h2LOma… to view the site descriptor, which includes images and measurements of each space.

Notes:
As a contributor to the event, Forensicartists will be invited to discuss their work alongside these artists in a public open panel discussion hosted by Guardian journalist Maddy Costa.
We have up to a maximum of £100 to offer each artist/company to contribute towards expenses.
Unfortunately as replicas of everyday houses there are accessibility issues with all 3 houses. Please contact us directly if this might raises issues with your proposal.
Please send ideas, proposals (where possible with documentation) to [email protected] by Friday 6th March, 12 noon.
