We’re so grateful to North for awarding us with a bursary as part of their new scheme, New Northern. Jazz North have been partners at our Inspire Artist Conference for several years now, and we can’t wait to work with them again in 2027!

to the spellbinding sounds of A Hologram Maze at ...

Led by pianist and composer David Austin Grey, A Hologram Maze brought together some of the UK’s finest improvisers, a close-knit group whose deep musical connection shone through every moment of their performance.

Their music unfolded in gently weaving turns and dynamic, powerful sweeps. Drawing from contemporary jazz, hip-hop, electronica, bebop, minimalism and romantic classical influences, the band created a warm, reflective and open-hearted sound world that captivated the room.

to our 2025 Artist in Residence James Mainwaring playing a solo session over at The Gregson Centre for our Innovation Hub. James also lead a workshop for local musicians of all abilities and ages and it was fantastic to see him bring both local and visiting musicians together for a jam session!

Lancaster Jazz Festival has always been about supporting emerging artists, which makes it all the more special that Flo Moana Music’s debut album was recorded live at Lancaster Jazz Festival 🔥

If you saw them play at Kanteena last year then go out and get your hands on a copy because you helped to make the album too. And, if you didn’t then grab a copy to hear what you missed out on.

It’s with a heavy heart we have to let you know that there will be no Lancaster Jazz Festival this year. Despite extensive efforts, we have been unable to secure funding from our primary funder and subsequently, we are not able to deliver the festival in 2026.

Since 2011, we have hosted a festival in the city of Lancaster, presenting artists and audiences with a welcoming space to come together and share in the celebration of contemporary jazz music. It’s been a hub for connectivity, collaboration and a spring board for some of the UK’s most innovative artists.

We know that this will be disappointing news, and we share that disappointment deeply. We’ve explored multiple options to take things forward but we hold strong these two core principles: that we will not compromise on the quality and experience for artists and audiences, and that we will not ask people to work for free.

We plan to be back as big and bright as ever in 2027.
