My jumpers are like buses it seems! Here is my (second) by - I used Northern Yarn - Ruth 🤎 held with Bérénice Cacao and I love it!!!! Using a 6mm needle it’s a fairly quick knit (very quick comparatively to the gansey!) I’m definitely set for the cooler weather now - and I’m knitting my second pair of Northern Yarn - Lune socks here, ina. Beautiful design coming soon 🧦

I knitted this as part of a knit-a-long which really kept me going - trying to be ahead of the game for the next meeting! It’s great to see all the different colours and lengths people choose. Fancy joining a KAL? Any suggestions for our next one?

And the gansey is finished!!! I’m so pleased that after starting our knit-a-long June 2025 I was able to cast off last week and weave in my ends - ready for autumn 2026 🍂 For those not familiar this is a traditional fisherman’s gansey, designed by Beth Brown-Reinsel Eriskay incorporates shoulder straps, underarm gussets (proudly waving them around here) a channel island cast on and even my initials! Ganseys are knitted in 5 ply on fine needles (in this case 2.75mm) to create a really dense, weather proof fabric, another reason why it took a looooong time! Despite the weather not quite being cold enough yet, I’ve worn it proudly remembering each row with its many motifs and cables, and in awe of the women that could knit these jumpers walking along the shore, in homes with hardly any light and without written patterns. I’ve used Skipper yarn which has been spun specifically, with a high twist to make the fabric more durable and give better definition to the knits and purls! It’s lovely to knit with (even better to wear) and 100% British. Thank you to everyone who has knitted along with us, it’s been so good to have a support group on hand for technical tips and encouragement! 🌊

We are starting the week the right way - with a beautiful knitted up by Sharon McGuinness (design by ) We’ve been enjoying our summer KAL and it’s so good to see all the variations! Sharon used De Rerum Natura - Bérénice in Avoine & Ulysse in Biche - the fabric is incredible!!

Just 🧡 Ruth finished her first silk & mohair garment and it’s the cosiest hug of a cardigan!! Using Bio Balance & Edith, Ruth knitted up a Lush Cardigan by - thanks for letting me share Ruth! I love your hugs but will be going for lots more this autumn! 🍂

And the Sheepsoft family is complete!!! This lovely blend of Bluefaced Leicester & Masham now comes in Aran weight - in the undyed, natural shades - bring it on!!! Gotta love a nice beige! 😍 Very soft and bouncy, I’m thinking cables - especially since the sun has disappeared a bit today! No complaints here! Thank you Laxtons - another fab, Yorkshire made, British yarn 🐑
