Here are the photos of my Liverpool Anglican Cathedral commission for the Josephine Butler Memorial screen. The screen celebrates the powerful force of this Victorian social reformer and feminist.
Each flower head represented in the screen denotes an attribute associated with Butler and quietly connects to the art nouveau Lady Chapel within which it sits.
The glass is laminated, trapping gold and silver metallic, reflective strands within it and the flower heads are gilded with 23ct gold. The leaves supporting the screen, beech & birch were cast in bronze from my original drawings .
The dedication service is on Thursday. It has been an absolute privilege to be commissioned to work on this project. Big thanks to Adele Armistead Moonloft for all the help with the visualisation and artwork & Proto Glass Studios for fabrication.

C3 CHURCH CAMBRIDGE

The illuminated artworks for the new C3 Church in Cambridge explore a number of liturgical themes. The individual artworks represent one of the four seasons, with each incorporating design elements pertaining to biblical references to creation, heaven, journeys, water, oil, light and fire. The double sided artworks commissioned for the £6m church combine deep sandblasting with both sprayed and hand applied resin, whilst a digitally printed interlayer adds further depth to each panel which is internally lit using a low voltage LED lighting system More at www.sarahgallowayglass.com

Commissioned by St John’s Church, Silverdale, my artwork 'Revelation' has crystal like qualities, incorporating deep sandblasting in the 15mm low iron toughened glass. The work takes as its theme biblical references to the "water of the river of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and either side of the river, the tree of life”. Designed to perfectly frame the Shrigley and Hunt window behind when viewed from the altar, the artwork for the grade 2 listed church completed in 1856 is sympathetically supported by discreet brushed stainless steel fixings More at https://www.sarahgallowayglass.com/revelation-silverdale-art-glass

📍Stafford Street, Oban

Themes relating to the seascape and landscape of Scotland’s west coast provided the inspiration for the glass artwork at the harbour in Oban. Integral to the newly pedestrianised area, the artwork was created with laminated glass encapsulating a digitally printed interlayer and sandblasting to a depth. Architect: Capita

A number of liturgical themes are explored in the glass artworks for the new Our Lady and St Wilfrid’s RC Church, with the windows also including references to the locality of the church in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Each of the windows in the nave relates to one of the Seven Sacraments, Eucharist, Marriage, Holy Orders, Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Anointing the Sick, whilst St Boniface is represented in the skylights.
