Hi everyone, an important update about ColourWorks. I'm moving out of the workshop so the business will be offline for a while as I'm moving house too. I'm having a temporary 'retirement' until the workshop at the new place is sorted which could be a few months.

I would like to wholeheartedly thank all of my customers, supporters and followers for supporting my little business and helping to contribute towards a more harmonious relationship with nature, one naturally dyed skein at a time. I have seen some beautiful creations made by very talented people using the yarn.

This has not been an easy decision to make, but it's very hard work trying to keep your head above water in a small craft business. I'm sure many of you out there will understand this. I will be carrying on in some form although I haven't decided what that looks like yet.

I'm selling off a load of ready mordanted yarns which are prepared for natural dyeing. Most are mordanted in alum which vastly improves the results with natural dyes, giving brighter more long lasting colours. These are available at discounted prices so are a fantastic deal.

Use kitchen leftovers such as onion skins or avocado peel and you will get some interesting results! Also flowers e.g. marigolds and dahlias will give good colours.

Another treat for you...I'm clearing out a lot of ready mordanted yarns which are prepared for natural dyeing. Most have been mordanted with alum for brighter colours and better colourfastness. There is a wide choice of different types to choose from.

You can use items from your kitchen such as onion skins and avocado peel, or flowers such as marigolds and dahlias to achieve lovely colours. Check out the link to my Etsy shop below 👇

Grab yourself a bargain and get inspiration for your next knitting or crochet project. In the workshop and on Etsy, these yarn bundles are available in 4 ply, DK and aran packs varying from 120g to 500g. They are at least half the usual price, I'm having a clear out as I will be moving out of the workshop in June.

I will be carrying on from my new home based workshop once things are sorted.

Wishing everyone a very happy New Year 🎉🎇

This year I will be making some changes to the business. The website is going offline for a while from 3rd January while I take a rest and step back. 2025 was challenging for both personal and business reasons, with the Christmas season being underwhelming to say the least. I would like to thank all of my customers and followers for their support and will post updates when I've had some much needed 'R & R'.
