🎨 JUST 7½ WEEKS TO GO! 🎨
Come and discover what happens behind the studio doors at ArtYBits Barn!

📅 Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October
⏰ 10am – 2pm

🎟️ FREE ENTRY

This is a chance to step inside the Barn, see what we get up to, meet the people behind the artwork and celebrate all the creative stuff we get up to.

THERE WILL BE SO MUCH TO SEE!
🖼️ ART CLUB DISPLAYS
We’ll be showcasing artwork from all of our Art Clubs, giving you the opportunity to see the huge variety of work created.

🐝🌿 BRAEHEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our local school, Braehead Primary, will be joining us with a wonderful display inspired by the local Moss Site of Scientific Interest.

🎨ARTSKILLS GROUPS
Come and see the fantastic work created by our Artskills young people groups from painting and clay work to animation and digital art.

🎨 OUR WIDER COMMUNITY WORK
We’ll also be sharing some of the projects we’ve been involved with across the wider community.

ARTYBITS ORIGINALS
We’ll have our own artwork on display too, including pyrography and acrylic painting on wood, with many pieces inspired by the wonderful work of local photographer Derek.

🖌️ HAVE A GO YOURSELF!
There will be creative activities throughout the weekend, including digital drawing pads to experiment with, as well as our wonderful wooden chair painting activity.

We already have some fantastic examples of chairs created by our young people and we can’t wait to see what visitors come up with! 🪑

🖼️ ARTWORK FOR SALE
There will be portfolios of work to explore, alongside framed and unframed artwork available to purchase from members of our adult groups.

🍰 AND OF COURSE… CAKE!
What would an open studio be without tea, coffee and cake?We’ll have teas and coffees available, accompanied by delicious baking from our local cake maker Carl.

And trust us, Carl’s cakes are not to be missed!

🏆 MINI GALLERY COMPETITIONS
We’ll also have some mini gallery competitions with prizes to be won,

Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for the piece of artwork that really catches their eye.
The winning artwork will then be framed and displayed at The Last Shift Inn, our local pub and restaurant, for the coming year.

🎄 AND THERE’S MORE
It will also be a great opportunity to find out what’s coming up at ArtYBits, including the chance to sign up for this year’s wreath-making workshops.

Big shout out to Holly and Alison this afternoon with their Pyrography.

Both these two are fab artists, turning their hands to paint, pyro, water colours and even oils and produce their own works which they sell.

Go check them out on their pages below. Holly has just finished a series on Iceland and Betty moonlight (Alison) has just been creating more painted and Pyro pieces including Bamburgh Castle which is a stunning piece not to be missed.

Some lovely smiles this morning at ArtyKids 😂 we had Bob Bob Bob the fish, some wild butterflies, clay monsters, houses and mushrooms.. and of course Kat with a big Saw because scissors were just overrated 😂.

There has honestly been so much creativity going on over the past few weeks, these kids are on a roll and my camera roll can't keep up! Here's a quick snap shot from still life, to portraits, abstract boards, to water colours, the attention to detail and confidence to give it a go is brilliant!

Smashing piece re-created by one of our Friday Artskills gang 💜 Well done Grace! I didn't quite catch a final photo of it, but will save that unveiling for the Art Exhibition in October.

Save the date 24th/25th October 10-2pm, I think you will be amazed at the work all our art gang have been up to. Remember we are a complete mix of ages right from age 5 up to ... Well I won't tell you who our eldest is😂

Some more fab work going on behind the scenes at Fridays Create and Connect group at Community Woods and Garden, Polbeth & West Calder

Inside the hut is really starting to brighten up, and if you take a wonder past the lovely veg beds maintained at the garden, you may spot some lovely mushroom top tables in the picnic area.

Huge thanks to everyone who comes on a Friday and gets stuck in. If you fancy joining on a Friday morning for some creativity in the garden don't forget to get in touch.

We enjoyed a little HR off this afternoon to see Jim Harkness and his exhibition at The Wee Farm Distillery happening again tomorrow (Saturday) ..... really pleased with my print thank you !! Well worth this visit if you get a moment.
