It also hosts the weekly meetings of the Orkney Strathspey and Reel Society on Thursdays and the Scottish Trad Award winning Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club on Wednesdays, visiting performers and listeners of all ages are always welcome to drop in and and enjoy these evenings free of charge. On Saturday night local musicians get together for an informal session in The Reel with over eighteens welcome to join in or just listen over a drink, free entry. A variety of concerts are held in the Reel featuring visiting and local artists. See our website or page for details of up and coming events. From May to August a season of eight fortnightly Orcadian Summer Concerts takes place in The Reel on Tuesday evenings featuring mainly traditional music and local musicians with all proceeds going to local charities, tickets to these are limited and highly prized! The Music School provides individual lessons all abilities and ages on most instruments, with many adult fiddle, and guitar players opting for the popular Saturday group classes with Hazel and Jennifer at several levels. Visitors are very welcome to join in the classes on an occasional basis just ask for details in the Music Shop. The Music Shop provides a reception desk for the music school, tickets for events, and a selection of musical instruments, musical accessories, local music books, cds, musical and local gifts and cards.
