SUMMER EXHIBITION NOW ONLINE!!

We are excited to share the latest online gallery with you in the run-up to our opening on Saturday.

You can view the exhibition here https://www.whitehousegallery.co.uk/product-category/exhibitions/the-summer-exhibition-2026/

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to see more images of any work, or if there is a maker listed who hasn't been included, we will do our best to help you (we will endeavour to get everything photographed and added once the exhibition is open).

We can't promise you sunshine on Saturday, but we can promise you a really fab exhibition, with some gorgeous works of art. Doors will open from 11am-5pm on Saturday. Hope to see many of you then! :)

We are closed all of this week.

Whilst we are busy working away installing our summer exhibition inside, the outside is getting a well overdue clean and paint, thanks to Tom and his team at Ian McLachlan Painters & Decorators.

We will be ready to welcome you all back again this coming Saturday.

WE ARE CLOSED FOR AN HOUR TO RE-HANG.

The gallery is upside down, so we're closing for an hour so we can get on top of it all, and get a new display up for you to enjoy.

We will reopen at 1.30pm.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Edinburgh based Stephen Finch has delivered a couple of beautiful handmade side tables - the 'Plectrum Table' is a three legged design in blackened ash with a sycamore top. And the 'Elm Table' is a round top table with four leg frame in a mid century modern style.

Stephen has also delivered some 'Artist Desk Tidy's', hand-planed for a tactile finish, in a range of beautiful woods. These aren't online, but range from the double for £70, to the triple for £75. Please contact us to make an enquiry.

Both tables can be viewed online https://www.whitehousegallery.co.uk/product-category/artists/stephen-finch/

Stephen is an Edinburgh-based designer-maker of bespoke wooden furniture using traditional joinery techniques and modern production methods. His work is precise with great attention to detail and is meticulously hand-finished to the highest quality.

As a materials-based designer-maker, Stephen has a keen eye for selecting interesting grain patterns and character timber to use in his work. He has a depth of knowledge earned through hands-on experience in all aspects of running a small hardwood sawmill. Using locally-sourced wood gives his work a palette of tones, grains and character that reflect the natural environment and Scottish landscape.

Primarily self-taught, Stephen attended Jewel & Esk College in 2004 before taking up bench space at Woodschool in 2005 and later Real Wood Studios, where he worked on a wide variety of in-house projects and private commissions. Projects included bespoke interiors for Plummerswood Passivhaus and Borders College Campus at Galashiels.

In 2015 he relocated back to Edinburgh and recently has set up his own workshop at Newbattle Abbey, near Eskbank.

Stephen strives for an elegant and simple aesthetic which makes the best use of the timber’s characteristics combined with his own craftmanship. Often using a single piece of wood as inspiration, he creates furniture to cherish for generations.

LORNA FRASER

We are delighted to have some wee sculptural forms in glass domes in this exhibition by Lorna Fraser. The domes contain hand built porcelain sculptures inspired by Bryophytes (mosses).

Unfortunately, they are impossible to photograph well, so we are celebrating Lorna's beautiful work with a few examples from her website. (photo credit Shannon Tofts). If anyone is interested, please contact us so that we can send you images of each piece, ranging from £106 - £125.

Gray's School of Art graduate Lorna works from her studio in Edinburgh, where she combines traditional hand-built and industrial mould making techniques to create unique porcelain one-off pieces, small series of works and site-specific installations.

'Inspired by the infinite array of forms in the botanical world my work explores the sculptural quality of plants, responding to their structure whilst selecting favourite composite shapes in order to create my own ceramic “hybrids”. I also draw inspiration from the huge collection of pressed plant specimens, impressive seed pods and pickled flowers and fruits stored in the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.'
