How many times have we all heard someone say... There's nothing to do in Kirkcaldy? The answer unfortunately is... Far too many times.
There's plenty to do if you actually leave your house and go and support what's actually on.
This is the third year that I'm running the Fife Cabaret Festival... And this year it's bigger and better than ever... Which is why it's over two weekends this year... And all at The Kings.
There really is something for everyone.
We have Kidz Kabaret, an opportunity for the local talented kids to show the world what they are made of, this year we have singers and dancers and more... We have FIVE separate local dance schools working together to create a great show.
Next we have our Acoustic Cabaret. All the acts are acoustic and we even have two local bands doing acoustic sets... One is a new young band, and the other is our very own Primal, bringing you chilled vibes.
We then have Cupcake Cabaret. A show full of classic styling, vintage vibes and a real sense of glamour. This show was traditionally our matinee show, but it's far too fun for folk to miss out, so we've given it the Saturday night slot that it deserves.
For those of you who like a wee Quiz, we have our Cabaret Quiz. It's a daft night of light entertainment and fun, but it's quite different because we have live performers throughout the night to entertain, as well as help with the quiz.
The following weekend we kick off with Fresh Faces, a show where every single act has never performed on Stage with Contrived Cabaret before, so the acts are as fresh to us as they are to you. It also tends to be the most varied show... This year we even have a choir!
Following on the Friday is as always our Comedy Cabaret. If you like funny and light-hearted then this is an ideal show for you. We have many hilarious acts and a guest stand up for the evening.
Festival Finale on the Saturday night is the show that all the regulars from Contrived Cabaret get on stage and do what they do best... Just give you excellent entertainment.
And we finish off the festival on the Sunday night with our ever popular (and often sold out) Supper Show. Yes... It's the show where you can feel like you are in the Moulin Rouge... You get your dinner... While watching the show... What more could you ask for?
So please, stop thinking that there's nothing to do in Kirkcaldy, because there is plenty on... And most of the performers are from fife, and many are from right here in the Lang Toun.
So tell all your friends, share this post, plan a night out, but please come along and support local people, being talented, and keeping a great venue going.
We can't do this without you... Let's keep the arts alive!
