It's Pat's birthday today! She is a valued member of TCS, and apart from being chorus manager, she sings with the baris, having sung on tenor previously. We haven't seen her at rehearsal for a couple of weeks, so have missed her. Hope you've had a birthday as marvellous as you are, Pat! Love from us all at TCS xx

We are very excited to announce that we had our first rehearsal with our new MD this week. A very warm welcome to Stephanie Johnson, who is an accomplished singing teacher, choir leader and an experienced professional performer, too.

Steph brings a new style, with lots of enthusiasm and energy and we're all really looking forward to progressing with her on our chorus journey.

For our first rehearsal, we made a good start on a new song, Super Trouper, worked on one of our latest repertoire songs and did some useful warm- ups focussing on our listening skills and keeping our harmonies on point when we separate from singing in unison. We all thoroughly enjoyed our first rehearsal and can't wait for the next one.

A change in venue and rehearsal night means we are also looking at recruiting new members, so please do get in touch if you fancy trying us out!

We are currently meeting at the Clubhouse in Garden Village, Elm Avenue, East Hull, between 7pm and 9pm each Thursday.

We would like to say a big thank you to Jack Bridges, who brought barbershop to Hull when he was studying at university here. He set up Hull University Barbershop Society and Humber Harmony before starting Three Crown Sound in late summer 2018.

During the last 8 years, Jack's expertise has seen us develop hugely in confidence and technique, to the point where we've been able to perform in public without an MD at all - at the sharrabang event organised by Back to Ours last July. Without Jack's guidance and encouragement, we wouldn't have been able to do this. When we look back to our first performance at Middleton Hall, most of us looked terrified! We have come a long way since then.

Some of our favourite occasions were singing with some of Humber Harmony at convention and winning Most Improved Small Choir (even though we never did see our trophy!), singing in a care home last Christmas, returning each year to sing in Hull Minster and St Augustine's church in Hedon.

They say all good things must come to an end, and Jack has now taken his last rehearsal with us, having tried to leave for a few years but being so dedicated he wanted to wait until someone could take over. We are glad that we got to sing one of our favourite songs with him at his final rehearsal. The Parting Glass seems quite apt as our last song with you.

We will miss you, Jack, but hope you enjoy having Tuesday evenings back. Thanks for all your hard work and energy you brought to us and good luck with all you do in the future.

As to our future, well, watch this space for an imminent announcement...

One of our members, Liz, from the bass section, has joined Main Street Sound Chorus, and will be singing with them at this concert on Saturday evening. It promises to be a fabulous event, so do go along if you're able. We wish Liz and the rest of the chorus lots of luck for the performance.
