Beth's pics from behind the scene of final work-
Notes from the artist:
“These work in progress photos serve as the documentation of my final year 2 exhibition pieces. My theme is based on Old Hollywood, the glitz and glamour vs ‘the dark side’ rife with drug abuse and control of women in the industry. My aim is to convey the facade of the Old Hollywood world using graphite pencils, to mimic the effect of being on camera, posed and as seen by the masses. A contrasting piece in coloured pencils depicts the opposite, the reality of the golden age shown ‘behind the scenes’ where the real horrors of the acting world are discovered. My work mostly consists of a mixture of photography using film cameras and drawing. I conduct photoshoots with friends and use the images as primary inspiration for my hyperrealism drawings, something that fascinates me and something I find equally satisfying. A lot of my work features small contrasting features that paired together, create surprising images. Although my favoured medium is graphite pencils, I love the challenge of working with coloured pencils which often create a whole different dynamic to my pieces.”
