Today we say thank you to seafarers everywhere. 🌊

Hull's history runs on the people who went to sea. Whalers, fishermen, trawler crews, lifeboatmen, lighthouse keepers.

How does a Victorian dock office become a maritime museum? 🏛️

When the docks moved out in the 1970s, Hull City Council took ownership of the building and decided to fill its grand domed halls with the stories of the city it had served for a century.

Collections moved over from the old Museum of Fisheries and Shipping in Pickering Park. In 1975, the doors opened as the Town Docks Museum, later renamed the Hull Maritime Museum. It's now in the final phase of its largest transformation yet.
