Freddie was chosen to receive Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books when he was little, and every month another one would arrive through the door. 📚❤️

At the time, I imagined us reading them together and, one day, him reading them back to me.

Freddie is profoundly autistic and non-verbal, and reading hasn’t become part of his world in the way I once imagined it might. But I could never bring myself to get rid of those books.

So I kept every single one, now they’re Hunter’s. 🥹

There’s something really lovely (but also tinged with grief) about watching his little brother sit with the same books that were originally sent for Freddie all those years.📚✨

Dolly Parton Your music has been the soundtrack to so many lives, but your kindness reached far beyond the stage too.
Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the stories, and for putting books into the hands of millions of children, including mine. 🤍🪽

Apparently I’m self-absorbed, lazy, can’t be arsed to clean my house, I’m after “free money” and—my personal favourite—I should probably just stop asking for support and look after my own children myself.

Wild take for someone who knows approximately ✨nothing✨ about our life.

So, for clarity: advocating for your disabled children, challenging decisions, asking for the support they’re entitled to and refusing to quietly accept less than they need isn’t laziness.

It’s called GOOD PARENTING.

But thank you for the engagement, babe. You got a whole carousel out of it. 💅😂
