Folk in Hull Charitable Incorporated Organisation aimed at furthering folk and roots music in and around the city of Hull.

Folk In Hull is a charitable umbrella organisation created to promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public, by encouraging and fostering the understanding, knowledge, appreciation and development of Folk Music, both Traditional and Contemporary, and its associated artistic art forms, to include song, music, dance and other related art forms. We do this by way of community eng

agement events, these include:
Organising the Hull Folk & Maritime Festival. Holding concerts (both ticketed & free) and curating documentary films designed to promote and inform people about the different aspects of Folk music & dance from the local area & from further afield. Supporting local sing-around sessions that actively encourage anyone who wants to perform or to listen to Folk music in all its forms, including poetry. Going into local schools with the aim of educating and inspiring young people into getting involved with Folk music with particular emphasis to local history and heritage. Conducting history trails around the city of Hull informing people through narrative and song about interesting facts about the local area.

The Hull Folk and Maritime festival team have been asked to programme live music to celebrate the opening of the Maritime Museum in Hull.

On Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th of August outside the museum we have the best folk , maritime and shanty music from the region. And it’s all free !

1pm - Ellie Pollard and Friends
2pm - Monkeys Fist

Sunday the 16th of August

11am - The Shanty Lasses
12noon - The Smugglers
