Bandanarama

Bandanarama Fun based band, bringing brassy, saxy vibes to the streets of Hull and beyond. Established 2015 Suitable for people of all ages, and from all walks of life.

Bandanarama is a community street band, specialising in procession, parade and walkabout performance. The band is a mix of brass, wind, percussion, strings, and voice, and is directed and managed by Brendan Walsh and has Nathan Kirby as our outstanding energetic Musical director. Bandanarama play a lively mash-up of disco hits, New Orleans processional music, indie classics, and um-pa; guaranteed

to get kids bopping, nanas dancing, and adult toes tapping, with a “feel good” factor and infectious energy that is truly memorable. The band has a ‘look' that resembles a hairy, greasy mob of bikers and rock gods who love to strut their stuff through any crowd. Audiences get the chance to interact with the performers face-to-face and be part of the musical experience. The band was formed after Hull Carnival Arts Emergent Street music training day with Mr. Wilson's Second Liners in May 2015. There first performance was at the Lord Mayors parade (Jun 2015), but have gone on to perform at numerous events in Hull , Beverley , Howden and even on the Ferries. Bandanarama is open to any musician who;

1. Plays brass, wind, strings or percussion and has their own instrument
2. Can play at least to a basic/intermediate level
3. Is free to attend rehearsals in Hull on Tuesday evenings twice a month
4. Is prepared to dress up and dance, and isn't afraid of having a bit of fun
