In Crete recently I saw a night heron for the first time. A curious bird and so still and silent beside the water. Once home I could begin the batik I'd been planning, with the night heron in a moonlit grove inspired by the river running through the palm forest on Crete's south coast.

Just finished 'Cloudy Riverscape' batik (below). Such amazing cloud patterns and light over the River Humber. I never tire of watching.
