We're even more excited than usual for tomorrow night's show for all sorts of good reasons:
- An extended preview of Abigail Rolling's S**tLawyer Edinburgh festival show. Abby delivers her trademark misanthropic mirth, drawing on almost 30 years’ experience to lift the veil on the criminal justice system. Dark. Funny. Underfunded. And that’s just her. The stories are true, the crisis real.
- An appearance from Hull Wunderkind Sarah Adams. She gets better every time we see her and she was already pretty good to start with.
- Up and coming star Jacob Nussey. Semi Finalist British Comedian of the Year 2021, Semi Finalist So You Think You're Funny 2021
Up-and-coming comic on the Midlands circuit, Jacob unassumingly draws in audiences by delivering sharp jokes and ill-fated anecdotes with clever punchlines.
- One of our favourites and regular contributor Lucy Marti, a shameless gordita and stand-up comedian from the Dominican Republic thankfully now based in Hull.
- Local celebrity nudist and all round funnyman Jed Salisbury will be running out some new material (and hopefully wearing some too).
- This month's compere is Rich Austin, who is swimming across the Humber for charity that very morning. So doubt he'll be banging on about that (link to sponsor him in the comments).
And on top of all that it's FREE ENTRY. With a lineup this good we really should be charging top dollar, but what we lack in commercial acumen we more than make up for in the funnies.

Did you know we’ve been nominated for Best New Act/New Material Night in the Yorkshire Comedy Awards?

Don’t miss Hull’s No. 1 new material comedy night shortly after the Sunday afternoon quiz.

This month's compere is a man with the voice of an affronted Victorian gentleman, Stone Cold Rich Austin. He's swimming across the River Humber for charity that morning (probably in a woollen bathing suit) so no doubt he'll be banging on bout that. Fortunately he will be introducing an amazing array of comedy talent, featuring Dom Hatton-Woods, Ben Silver, Sarah Adams, Bryan James, Abigail Rolling, Lucy Marti and Jacob Nussey. A real classy lineup, not to be missed.

We've changed our night from Thursdays to Sundays so Comedy Playground at The Brain Jar will now be on the first Sunday of the month. Plus we'll be starting earlier, around 6pm so everyone can get home a bit earlier to spend that little extra time staring into the Abyss of Impending Monday. Why not come and have a good laugh before that? Or make a day of it and join The Brain Jar's Sunday afternoon themed quiz?
Our first Sunday is this coming Sunday (5th June) so why not wind down from the excitement of the jubilee weekend with a cocktail and some comedy? Featuring the comedic talents of Jed Salisbury, Lucy Marti, Rich Austin, Bryan James and more, all held together by this month's compere Haseeb Malik.

This Thursday night at our usual haunt of The Brain Jar we are delighted to host Hull Comedy Wunderkind and local legend Jack Gleadow "just doing a load of new s**te", headlining our show.
Plus the comedic delights of Greg Phillips, Alex Mitchell , Edd Jefferson, Stuart Lilford, and Jack McLean completing the Smorgasbord of talent. All held seamlessly (well, sort of) together by Rich Austin, the second best compere at Cottingham Comedy Club.

It’s April when fools are fully in season so why not come and taste them at their freshest! 🎭

The latest edition of our new act / new material night, featuring the comedic talents of Jonny Brook, Kelly Edgar, Rachel Selkirk, Guy Black, Ian Winter, and a rare sighting of local legend Chris Percy himself! 🎤

It’s a mix of newer acts (some slightly seasoned and others brand new) and experienced acts trying out new material. All held together by a man who can’t even tie his own shoelaces together, The Host From The Coast (of the Humber) Stone Cold Rich Austin.
Plus it’s held in a dedicated room, upstairs in Hull Old Town’s coolest bar, The Brain Jar, with regular breaks to sample the extensive and creative cocktail menu or delicious food (we love the pizzas) 🍸🍹🍕
