At Westend Training Academy, we always end our sessions with time for questions and feedback – often the most valuable part of the day!

We were delighted to welcome Kirsty Sparks to the studio yesterday for an incredible workshop. She was truly wowed by the talent in the room, frequently complimenting the students on how quickly they picked up the choreography and adapted to the work.

Kirsty shared a wealth of advice and industry knowledge throughout the day, giving students a valuable insight into the realities of working in professional theatre. The workshop was split into two parts, with students first working on dance and then learning vocals to a hit number from Hairspray before combining the two elements.

She highlighted that, in a professional production, performers would typically spend hours learning the song, days learning the choreography, and then additional days or even weeks bringing everything together. Kirsty was amazed that our students were able to learn and combine both elements in such a short space of time, approaching the task with such professionalism, commitment, and enthusiasm.

The effort, focus, and determination shown by everyone throughout the workshop were outstanding. Students should give themselves a well-deserved pat on the back for what they achieved – you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves!

Thank you once again Kirsty- originally from Hull herself, Kirsty's success story was a powerful reminder to our students that their ambitions are achievable. She showed that with passion, resilience, and dedication, there is no limit to what they can accomplish. 🖤🖤

We are sooo EXCITED to welcome Kirsty to the studio today 😬😬

Kirsty is a highly experienced performer, choreographer, and movement director whose career has spanned the UK and international theatre industry for more than three decades. Trained at Laine Theatre Arts, she has appeared in major musical productions across London, the UK, and Europe.

Performance credits include Top Hat (Chichester Festival Theatre), Hairspray (UK Tour), Saturday Night Fever (UK Tour), Starlight Express (Bochum), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Essen), Cats (Hamburg) and Me and My Girl (London).

As a choreographer and movement director, Kirsty's work includes projects for ITV’s Girlfriends, John Galliano’s Paris Fashion Week presentations, Chess at the Gaiety Theatre, and numerous UK Productions pantomimes including Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Alongside her creative work, Kirsty is a respected educator and industry leader, serving as Joint Principal of SLP College, where she helps train the next generation of musical theatre performers.

Are you passionate about performing arts and dreaming of one day performing in the West End?

Do you already attend a dance, theatre or performing arts school but want to take your training to the next level? Have you ever wished you could access professional industry training without it clashing with your current commitments?

At West End Training Academy, we're making that possible.

Based in Hull and running just one Sunday each month, our academy is designed to complement your existing training while giving young performers the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.

✨ For ages 9–18 years
✨ Professional West End-style training
✨ Different industry mentors every month
✨ Explore a wide range of performing arts disciplines
✨ Develop as a true Triple Threat Performer
✨ End every session with personalised 1-1 feedback
✨ Affordable training options with monthly payments or pay-in-full plans available

We believe every child should have access to high-quality professional training, which is why we are committed to keeping our programme accessible and affordable for all.

Excited to back in the studio 🎭🎵🖤

We have the honour to have Eve Kitchingman as our Masterclass mentor 🙌

Eve – originally from Leeds – trained at the London School Of Musical Theatre. She recently appeared in LIFT The Musical (Southwark Playhouse) and was part of The Taboo 20th Anniversary Concert (London Palladium).

Other credits include: Prince in Cinderella (Bear in the Air Productions) and at Universal Studios Japan as The Bride of Frankenstein (Universal Monsters Live).

Credits whilst training include: Rita in Made in Dagenham (London School of Musical Theatre).

Eve is currently an alternate in the 2025-26 UK & International Tour of Six the Musical- Guess it's going to be a good one 😍😍

✨ 2 YEARS OF WEST END TRAINING ✨

Today we celebrate 2 incredible years of growth, passion, and dedication. What started as a vision has become a thriving space where talent is nurtured, confidence is built 🖤

Over the past two years, we’ve been honoured to welcome so many industry professionals into our space — delivering inspiring masterclasses, sharing their expertise, and guiding our students with real insight into the industry. From musicals like Grease, Heathers, Six and beyond, the knowledge and experience passed on has been truly invaluable.

Our programme has gone far beyond just training — supporting students in mental health, casting preparation, and versatility across styles including tap, hip hop, contemporary, acting, and singing with an overall strong focus on Musical Theatre. Watching our students grow not only in skill, but in confidence, resilience, and belief in themselves has been the most rewarding journey.

We’ve seen friendships form, support systems grow, and young performers show up, commit, and showcase themselves with professionalism and pride.

We are also so proud to see our students moving forward into other training academies and opportunities, continuing their journeys and achieving success — it’s what this is all about.

A special moment in our journey was welcoming our very first mentor, Arcangelo — setting the tone for the level of excellence and inspiration we strive for every day.

To every student, parent, and professional who has been part of this journey — thank you. You are what makes this programme what it is.
