What would happen if you spent £1-a-week extra with local businesses like The Port Gallery?

Scotland's Towns Partnership (STP) - the organisation behind Scotland Loves Local - says that if every person in Scotland were to spend just £1 more per week with local businesses in their area, an additional £282.7m would be generated annually.

North Lanarkshire Council Provost Councillor Kenneth Duffy popped into The Port Gallery to kick off Scotland Loves Local 2026 to kick off Scotland Loves Local Week, running 13 to 20 June.

We'd love for you to join in the fun in showcasing some of the businesses that make our communities unique - please tag your favourite local Scottish businesses in the comments, and tell us what you love about them!

We are kicking off celebrating The Port Gallery’s 15th Anniversary during Scotland Loves Local Week 2026, supported by Scotland's Towns!

We are proud to be chosen as a featured business in Kilsyth by North Lanarkshire Council, the Business Gateway team & North Lanarkshire Business.

Think Local First – we're supporting the Scotland Loves Local Week, which starts today, by highlighting local shops and businesses in our towns and villages. https://lovelocal.scot/

Provost Kenneth Duffy visited Winning Awards in Coatbridge, which supplies trophies, personalised gifts for all occasions, workwear and sports clothing.

The business has been in the town centre since 2010, and everything is done in-house in their shop including engraving, glass engraving, embroidery and printing.

The council has a wide range of support to help businesses grow or start-up including funding, training, recruitment, workshops and events. Contact Business Gateway Lanarkshire on 01698 520775 or [email protected].
