The Sunday Club

The Sunday Club A brand new concept in live music. OK, let’s get the boring stuff out of the way first shall we ?? We live in Bewdley, Worcestershire. OR…..

You now have the opportunity to join a subscription based scheme where you get to save money on your nights out celebrating the wonderful world of PROG..... My name is Stephen Gould (but please call me Steve !!), I was born in Birmingham on September 1st 1957 (I’ll let you work out how old I am 😉 ). Met my lady in 1974 whilst on holiday with my parents and sister in Brixham, married in 1978. Sinc

e then we have acquired two beautiful daughters and five grandkids. My interests are: Movies, Video Games, Reading, Computers, Gym, Mountain Biking, Juggling Used Teabags, Collecting Green Shield Stamps and most importantly – MUSIC !! In fact, it was a mutual love and respect for music that helped bring us together and decades later, it still plays a very important part in our relationship and everyday lives. Over the years we have amassed many, many happy memories around music, not to mention the many friends and acquaintances we’ve made. Basically, we LOVE our music and couldn’t imagine life without it, we owe music SO much…..and I feel sure you probably agree, otherwise you wouldn’t be here eh ??? 😉

Some of you may know me from my time with MMH (www.mmhradio.co.uk), as I produce (with my lady) a weekly 3 hour radio show called “The Lost Art” that goes out “live” every Sunday @ 4.00pm. It also goes out on ProgZilla Radio (www.progzilla.com) every Thursday at 8.00pm, with subsequent podcasts following both broadcasts, I also do album and gig reviews OR….. You may know me as the organizer of Fusion Prog Festival (www.fusionprogfestivals.com) in Stourport (2025 will see our sixth outing), which goes out the first full weekend of March, EVERY year. You may know me thru a gig we have shared, the list goes on, BUT……

The main thing is, you’re here !! Welcome to The Sunday Club at 45 Live, Kidderminster. The last Sunday of the month, EVERY month. We look forward to entertaining you, educating you and most of all enlightening you to some of the amazing bands, artists and music out there. Join us on a voyage of discovery. Steve Gould (August 2024)

Sunday Club gig featuring The Wood Demons and Spriggan Mist at Jelleyman's Mill, Kidderminster on 25th January.

Urgent Update

Statement from The Wood Demons

With regret, The Wood Demons are having to pull out of our gig with Spriggan Mist on Sunday January 25th in Kidderminster.

One of our members is having medical issues (back pain and sciatica) which rule out the 250 mile round trip involved.

We’re gutted not to be playing, and we are really sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to see us.

Simon, Rick, Naomi, Ed and John

So....having been on the lookout for a replacement support act, I can now reveal that this has now been taken by the legendary Prog Musician - ALDOUS Q**M, in collaboration with Andy Edwards.

Here's a press release from the man himself.....

Aldous Q**m Returns From the Astral Plane

Prog’s Most Elusive Sonic Alchemist Brings Cosmic Vibes to Kidderminster – 25th January

After years of rumour, myth, and the occasional sighting in obscure record shops muttering about odd time signatures, Aldous Q**m is back.

Yes, that Aldous Q**m.

The progressive-rock mystic, known for weaving cosmic soundscapes, unexpected flute solos, and lyrics that may or may not be instructions for interstellar travel, is making a much-requested comeback—and against all odds, it lands squarely in Kidderminster on 25th January.

Long thought to have retired to a remote dimension where songs are written exclusively in 13/8, Q**m has re-emerged with a renewed mission:

“To realign the chakras of British prog—starting with Worcestershire.”

Fans can expect a set brimming with vintage Q**m epics, newly unearthed material from the lost years, and at least one track so long it may require refreshments halfway through. Early rehearsals have reportedly caused mild time dilation and spontaneous air-keyboard solos.

Q**m himself remains characteristically enigmatic:

“The music told me it was time,” he said, gazing thoughtfully into the middle distance. “Also, Kidderminster has excellent cosmic resonance. And parking.”

This one-off appearance promises soaring guitars, celestial synths, philosophical noodling, and that unmistakable feeling that you’ve just witnessed something slightly life-changing—though you may not fully understand why until three days later.

📅 25th January
🌌 Cosmic vibrations guaranteed
🎹 Capes optional but encouraged

Prog devotees, vinyl hoarders, and lovers of beautifully excessive music are advised not to miss this rare alignment of artist, audience, and astral forces.

Aldous Q**m has returned.
Reality may never quite be the same.

We are indeed blessed with the return of Aldous and hope you can join us for a night full of enlightenment, cosmic awareness and not forgetting, raw vegetables !!!!

URGENT SUNDAY CLUB UPDATE - PLEASE SHARE !!

How's it going you hungry bunch ?? Hope you're all doing ok. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but our September Sunday Club gig with Ghost Of The Machine and Trilogy - UK Progressive Rock Band has been cancelled as our dear friend Charlie Bramald has damaged ligaments in his jaw so has been advised to rest, bless him. Therefore, we have managed to reschedule the gig to May 31st which will be a double header with the magnificent Dominic Sanderson. I must admit, other than the handful of Sunday Club subscribers, we had sold 8 tickets via Skiddle !!!!!!!!

Here's a link to the new Skiddle listing....

To be honest, our gig on Sunday with the legendary Solstice and Ebony Buckle was an absolute stormer with around 90 people in attendance, what a memorable event it was and so good to see so many familiar faces. Ongoing......to make The Sunday Club work guys we REALLY need to see these bands getting the support they so very much deserve. Don't forget, for only a fiver a month, you can subscribe to our Patreon page where you get access to EVERY live stream plus a whole host of bonus audio and video content, here's the link.....PLEASE SUPPORT LIVE PROG !!!!

https://www.patreon.com/c/worldofprog

Our next event is on October 26th with the wonderful DEC BURKE (Official Frost*, Dilemma and Darwin's Radio) with support from League of Lights, we look forward to your support.

Have a great day and hopefully, we'll see some of you at this weekend's Nene Valley Rock Festival.

Huge hugs, Steve & Lou xx

URGENT UPDATE (PLEASE READ AND SHARE)

https://thesundayclub.net/

How's it going folks ?? Time for a well-overdue update on all things "Sunday Club". For the moment, all our gigs are taking place at Jelleyman's Mill in Kidderminster which (unfortunately) has a licence that only allows live music until 7.30pm !! There are two "new" venues opening later this year, around November time - The Church and Kidderminster Town Hall (the latter currently in the final throes of a £10 million renovation !!) which we will be exploring as possible alternatives for future events, but for now - Jelleyman's it is.

So.....

This coming Sunday (27th) we had VMBRA and Sonic Tapestry, but sadly, due to family health issues, this will not be taking place. We will be looking to reschedule this gig at some later date :-( :-(

Here's a list of upcoming Sunday club gigs for the remainder of 2025, going into 2026, we look forward to welcoming you to one or more. Don't forget, you can join as a monthly member, which will cost you either £15 a month (subscription) or £160 for 12 months (saving £20). Alternatively, if you are unable to make it in person, we have streaming options available - £10 for a one-off or pay £5 a month (£60 for 12 months) which will give you access to EVERY live stream (the link remains active AFTER the live broadcast so you don't need to "be there" as it happens !!)

Guys, we do this for you, we do this for the bands and hopefully, an attempt at keeping original music alive and well. Please show your support in one way or another coz unless we get a very generous and wealthy Prog benefactor on board, the project will DIE !!!!

Stay safe, stay sane and most of all - STAY PROGGY !!!!
