This week has been an end of a wonderful era. 22 years ago I opened a small Saturday dance club where i had 8 small girls who came to learn how to dance in Ballet, Modern and Tap. It began to grow and more dancers arrived and we were able to do small shows. After getting married in 2010 I was brave and left my wonderful team at DPA and went alone opening Whyley dance. It started slow and I wondered if i had done the right thing but soon enough I was teaching 120 students and several schools. It was always hard work but i loved it. I started creating shows in theatres as a one man band which was exhausting but worth it , watching so many happy faces.
2020 Covid came and bite us all on the butt and I can honestly say wrecked my dance school which i loved so much. I have continued for 5 more years but has been a struggle.
2024 after years of struggling i had an awful episode and ended in hospital and was told i had to have a heart op. In November The operation was a success and i am recovering very well. My dancers had to suspend they Christmas show but did the most wonderful show in February.
This Wednesday I closed the doors to Whyley dance for our new adventure. I have loved my 22 years and I am proud of myself.
My first ever dancer is getting married next month and i wish her all the happiness.
I wish all my dancers the best and keep your inspiration going.
If you have been to Whyley dance over the 22 years please comment below.
I also want to thank everyone who has sent me cards, gifts and have supported me through this epic journey.
