We were saddened to learn of the passing of Denis Parrott at the weekend.

An accomplished artist, senior lecturer at Northampton and Nene Colleges of Higher Education, and an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Artists - but more importantly, he was a lovely man❤️

Denis lived on Bowling Green Road for many years and visited Alfred East Gallery almost daily. When he moved to Manchester to be closer to his family, we helped him pack away his artworks. A huge supporter of the Gallery, we'll miss his warmth and friendship.

It's a testament to his character that, during his retirement, he volunteered as a tour guide in London galleries, describing artworks to the visually impaired. His knowledge and passion for art was infectious.

Our condolences to Sim and all his family and friends.

One week to go. Prelude is almost here.

Teresa Williams joins five other local artists in the Garden Room. She creates both digital and analogue art, combining photography with stitch and found materials.

During trips to the Suffolk coast, Teresa saw cliff erosion happening at a rapid pace. Her series on Nereids from Greek mythology depict them wearing dresses made of fishing line and beach debris, all collected from cliff falls. Teresa adds stitching, sea glass and sand to capture their beauty.

She creates playful collages using vintage magazines, exploring the stereotypical ways women are portrayed in fashion.

Teresa joins Charlotte, Samantha, Serena, Rosie, and Simon in Prelude – the first exhibition at AEG in six years.

Is there anything better than a dog curled up on your lap?💕

For National Dog Day, we're thinking of "The Two Sleepers", a bronze sculpture of a girl grabbing a precious nap with her dog.

When Nancy Chaston's parents passed away, she wanted to purchase a sculpture in their name for Kettering's art collection, something that depicted "a young girl and an animal".

In the early 1980s, the artist James Butler was asked if he had anything suitable. He glanced across the room and saw his daughter asleep with the family dog. Inspired, he created "The Two Sleepers"❤️

Just two weeks until Prelude opens, when six artists exhibit in the new Garden Room at AEG🖼️

For , we’re looking at the haunted imagery of Kettering photographer, Simon Loach.

He photographs people and places, documenting the feelings they evoke rather than simply how they look. He captures what goes unseen and unnoticed, because if something isn’t recorded it can fade and disappear.

For Simon, a photograph isn’t necessarily proof that something existed, only that it mattered❤️
